Movies on TV

If Disney still sold TV rights to the Star Wars movies, you could have all the movies on May the 4th.

I thought it happened last year or something, around the same time.

EDIT: 2019 it seems.

Nine rudely interrupted the 1pm movie The Giver
for another pointless press conference by Scott Morrsion.

15 minute interruption.

Yeah I thought the movie was pretty good.Finished right on 3pm so somehow they managed to make up 15 minutes. It didn’t seem like there were less ad breaks/promos.

Never seen it, should I?

Yes
I wouldn’t go out of my way but if it gets another airing on Nine, definitely.

Nine:

Tuesday 18 May at 7:30pm Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)

Friday 21 May at 10:35pm The Foreigner (2017) (9 or 9Gem)

Bohemian Rhapsody was a box office hit when released in 2018. It was distributed by 20th Century Fox so would have fallen under its current deal with Seven. Not sure if Nine got the rights from Disney (which bought 20CF as part of the acquisition of 21st Century Fox in 2019), or due to Nine’s past relationship with Regency Enterprises, which produced the film with GK Films and Queen Films.

It’s licenced to TV here by Regency, not Disney or 20C Fox (latter as you mentioned have an output with Seven):

7.30pm slot for Bohemian Rhapsody on the Tuesday night? Nice. Not often that movies at that slot for a weeknight on a main channel.

With an Over 40s appeal and the box office and word of mouth hit, as well as critical acclaim, Nine will hope for a 400k+ minimum I’m guessing (like The Castle etc usually does for them - although that’s an umpteenth re-run unlike this which is a FTA premiere).

Citation needed on this one big fella.

It was one of the most critically derided Best Picture nominees in recent history.

Oh, sorry I thought I remember it being well received, I personally thought it was really good (okay it wasn’t the greatest thing ever), I wonder if I was getting confused with “Rocketman” (which coincidently also recently premiered and on Nine).

I stand corrected

I didn’t like it at the time and it hasn’t improved on rewatch for me (although the Live Aid recreation is superb), but yeah I think it’s one of those ones that was liked by the public but generally dismissed by critics.

It’s a chance of doing good numbers for Nine though. Easy watch for fans.

And upon a quick refresher of that year’s Oscars, I remember it and watching it and the major winners being perhaps you could say a bit surprising and/or understated actors (of the calibre): Green Book (pic), Rami Malik (actor - Bohemian, which I’m actually glad he won - IMO it was amazing effort of a performance) and Olivia Colman (actress - many were rooting for Glenn Close to finally nab one!)

Nine hoping for a good number, don’t often see a movie at this time of year and stage of a week at 7:30pm, nor promoted a week out

Seven / 7Mate:

Friday 28 May 8:30pm Glass (2019) Disney

Saturday 29 May 10:00 pm Wind River (2017) Icon
