Nine with an anamorphic print of Speed tonight

Well. that’s different, and odd. Why did Nine decide to air Speed with this “widescreen” version?

Well, it looks like that is the film’s aspect ratio (zoomed screenshot of the back of the Australian 2003 Fox DVD cover with its specs):

Seven’s was most likely an old master from the 2000s, panned and scanned or just cropped by the television distributor or the broadcaster.

Can’t recall what Ten used (early 2010s - 2017)?

Hooray :raising_hands: And looks nice too.

How does the Nut farm suddenly have a ratting of 7.9? From what I heard this is the worst made movie of the year. lol.

22 10-star reviews, 21 of which in Australia. (33/42 overall reviews are from there.)

You can draw your own conclusions on that.

I’m watching this now hahaha. A few months after this came out everyone was saying how bad it was and the rating was sitting at 4.5.

This is the first article i saw when it had the bad rating:

The Nut Farm review: Usual laws of reality seem suspended in unconvincing Arj Barker comedy

In 9’s original cut of DHWAV - I remember them re-using the same shot of the taxi driving away with McClane and Carver in it when they were masking the “dont fuck with me or I’ll shove a lightning bolt up your ass” edit

Seems to be missing “9 Now”

Might just be oversight or no on-demand availability (meaning tomorrow we’ll see BVOD = 0).

Still searchable on 9Now as of, well, now.

Classic Australian movies on Nine’s Monday schedule

Good to see Nine advertising their Monday night movies. These Aussie Classics usually do bring in some good numbers in the ratings.

On the other hand - I have failed to see any ads for their Friday night movies. Last week Nine aired Aussie film The Dry, and this Friday is The Dry 2.

Well they’d hate to fall victim to 10 with new episodes of Deal, Big Brother & Sam Pang Tonight now would they
Tuesday was cutting it fine

The Castle and The Dish, but no Any Questions For Ben? Nonetheless, I’ve let my fellow Working Dog fans at Champagne Comedy know. (Disclosure: I’m on their podcast.) Thanks @TV.Cynic!

No Priscilla? They did show it recently following Terence Stamp’s passing.

It was on ABC last Sunday.

Ah, okay.

Nine and ABC must be sharing those FTA rights from MGM, although often happens commercial vs public (rather than two rival commercials). According to Google Australia, both iView (ABC bvod) and Stan (Nine Entertainment svod) currently have Priscilla available. iView’s was published 4 days ago and their licence expires at 11:59pm on 9th Dec, so ABC haven’t got it for very long.
