Believe this is a FTA premiere? It had a quiet release in late 2022 and despite the names attached didn’t do that well, even to Margot Robbie’s surprise she revealed this year. In the shadow of Top Gun: Maverick and Hollywood just getting back on track out of COVID.
It does have a prohibitive 3hr+ run time (!) and won’t finish its broadcast on 10 tonight until almost 2am.
From Paramount and the director of “Whiplash” and “La La Land” Damien Chazelle. Unlike the others, this is quite a step in a different direction for him and it’s apparently very graphic albeit stylized (a heavy MA15+ rating) in the form of someone Robbie is familiar with in Martin Scorsese and his Wolf of Wall Street.
It is currently available for Netflix subscribers, unsure if 10 Play will get limited vod rights after broadcast, it is also available to rent/buy digitally and buy on DVD & BluRay.
A common scenario, yes Johnson, where DVR recording still serves a handy purpose, thanks to the more restrictive and complex film licencing.
Nice to see a horror (although more thriller and stylised) genre on commercial main channels in somewhat earlier prime time. Fairly early FTA premiere too, only got released a smidge under 2 years ago. Paramount now own the IP via Miramax and Spyglass. Previous distributors of Miramax here include Roadshow and Disney.
“Scream” is still such a great franchise and these roboots have been fantastic, also receiving wide praise and box office hits, finding new ways to improve and conceive new plots, while still remaining faithful to the originals, always good writing and casting. Mega star Courteney Cox has appeared in every single entry since the late Wes Craven’s 1996 originator and has just signed on for Scream 7, plus great to have original ‘face’ Neve Campbell back. I particularly enjoyed this 6th instalment, was nice having Hayden Penitierre back from Scream 4 and look out for, as usual, the big twist(s)!
These are the movies that Seven is showing next week at 1pm each day following the new Seven News Noon bulletin. They are part of a made for TV Morning Show Mysteries series.
Good to see Seven still showing movies during the day - now at 1pm, rather than at Midday. Will see how that goes in the ratings. Might be short lived until Australian Idol repeats presumably air in that timeslot soon after,
