On a tragic day for the Australian TV family Seven secured its fourth consecutive Monday win almost 3 points ahead of second-placed Nine. ABC ranked third with its best Monday share of this survey period while 10’s disrupted schedule managed a share on par with the previous Monday.

Seven News continued its 6pm dominance with only the second +1 million bulletin of the year winning all markets and +200k ahead of Nine. That followed The Chase that posted its biggest 5.30pm audience of the year at almost 600k eclipsing all post 7.30pm shows.

Farmer Wants a Wife was back in Seven’s Monday scheduled after a break last week for AFL, up slightly on the previous Monday as well as Sunday’s result.

A Current Affair for Nine again won at 7pm with one of its best results of the year close to 700,000 while Lego Masters that followed was up almost 70k on the previous Monday. That helped RPA get a 50k boost to its best result in four weeks.

ABC’s improved share was largely due to ABC News with its second highest rated bulletin of the survey plus Australian Story up 50,000 on the previous week.

Viewers turned to 10 for news of Jock Zonfrillo’s death with 10 News recording it highest rated bulletin of the year. The Project that followed featuring special coverage of the death of Jock also recorded its highest ratings of the year by a significant margin. That helped mitigate the loss of audience resulting from MasterChef being replaced by The Bridge that was uncompetitive and well outside the top 20 rating only one third of its reality competition. Though, it’s probably the best that 10 could expect under the circumstances.

Good numbers for 10 News First across all markets… especially Melbourne and Adelaide.

It’s the first time that I’ve tuned into 10 News at 5pm in a very long time.

I know they had little time to prepare for very obvious reasons but i would’ve held over the Bridge for tonight and have put on Dog House or something last night to give them time to at least promote the change.

No surprise Project had the viewers tuning in for more on Jock.

Still a sad state for 10 News that such an event has had this uptick on the 5pm bulletin. Bulletin should be getting no less than these figures daily.

Yes they are great numbers especially because so many people in here say that noone would want to watch the news on Ten.

I think everyone knows why they got those numbers last night. It’ll be back to normal soon.

If the news is doing well, I will call it out. If people want to argue against it, thats their problem.

I would be interested to see where Q and A finished last night, the once very powerful program which now has little impact.

I guess its like talking to a brick wall…

I look forward to the same subject being brought up again tomorrow morning and you choosing to ignore members in their responses.

Im not ignoring it mate. There are people like Chewy Apple who make very valid comments.

The news did well on Ten last night and would have rated its socks off last night if it were on at 9pm instead of the alternative.

Lets move on.

I’m sorry but this is such a baseless claim.

Thanks TV.Cynic for this, appreciate it

Very few people were watching the scheduled program at that time - what is going to make them suddenly tune into Channel 10 at 9pm?

Habits like tuning into the 6pm News on 7/9 or 5pm News on 10 take decades to form, it’s not going to happen overnight.

Did you notice how Chris said at the top of this thread

“It’s the first time that I’ve tuned into 10 News at 5pm in a very long time”

There’s a massive difference between tuning into a bulletin which has been at 5PM for more than 20 years vs a 9PM bulletin which has never exist on the network
