Mock Schedules

No offense, but that’s just pointless.

It would be a better use of their services to keep it to a 90 min local bulletin instead of reducing it to 30 mins, OR make it one 90 minute national bulletin.

How about double episodes of The Big Bang Theory?

@Tom_TV7 If I was to do a game show in that slot, I would trial a 30 minute game show that was relatively cheap to produce. Perhaps a quiz show that is similar to Sale Of The Century as to the number of contestants. However, contestants would have $500 “play” money to wager on each question. In the first round, The default wager would be $50 per question, with the person in the lead nominating the wager for each question. It would be the same as Sale as in who buzzes in first and the appropriate adjustment is made to their cash total.

There would be 3 rounds plus a a round called fast minute. 30 minutes in duration

I think they will cut the network to the bone. Ten are really going backward under the current ownership. I would love to see the network invest in news production but it seems to be cyclical that they try to make inroads, then something happens.

Ten havent really recovered from the debacles over the last 30 years. How many times has it went into receivership as opposed to Nine and Seven. I think that we might have seen more money thrown at the network under Gordon, Packer and Murdoch, but then they werent doing a great job.

Packer abandoned it as he realised they werent going to get Ten. I think Gordon is sniffing around Nine again as he realised he stuffed up, but are SCA in with Nine enough to thwart it? We wont know until some time next year (pre-July) as to whether the current affiliation arrangements continue or if they change back to pre July 2016 arrangements.

They could screen classic Friends and Classic Bang Bang Theory between 5pm and 6pm.

It was. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

If Seven decide to introduce a national 4pm bulletin with a focus on international news, this would be my rundown:

First Block: 4:00pm-4:11pm

  • Major national news stories
  • Early check of the weather

Second Block: 4:14pm-4:20pm

  • Major international news stories
  • Cross to CommSec for Finance

Third Block: 4:23pm-4:28pm

  • Light-hearted/trending stories
  • Sport

Fourth Block: 4:31pm-4:40pm

  • Major national news stories
  • Showbiz gossip with Peter Ford

Fifth Block: 4:43pm-4:49pm

  • More international news stories
  • Local traffic inserts

Sixth Block: 4:52pm-4:56pm

  • Coming up in 7NEWS at 6pm
  • Weather

Like the old bulletin with David Johnston, this one too would be presented out of Melbourne’s Docklands Studios by Peter Mitchell (Monday - Thursday) and Mike Amor (Friday).

Sport would be presented by Tim Watson (Monday - Thursday) and Jacqueline Felgate (Friday). Weather would be presented by Jane Bunn (Monday - Thursday) and Melina Sarris (Friday).

The only problem with this is that the ads are at the end of the bulletin? Australian television never have this

This is what happens now - the bulletins end at 4:56pm or thereabout as The Chase Australia starts at about 4:57pm. To fill the gap in between news and The Chase - they’d usually show a network promo.

Oh i didn’t notice that. So it that why The Chase is higher slightly than in views Hot Seat due to the extra 3-4 mins?

If I could slightly alter Seven’s afternoon schedule:

3:00pm The Chase UK
4:00pm New Police Factual - Name TBD (follows the lives of police officers)
4:30pm Seven (National) Afternoon News
5:30pm The Chase Australia (refreshed, fast-paced format, still with four contestants)

The National Afternoon News will be presented out of Melbourne’s Docklands Studios by Peter Mitchell (news), Tim Watson (sport) and Jane Bunn (weather).

This would be the bulletin rundown:

4:30pm: Opener, news headlines
4:31pm: Major national and local news stories
4:40pm: Early check of the weather with Jane Bunn
4:41pm: AD BREAK #1
4:44pm: More national and local news stories
4:49pm: Cross to CommSec for Finance
4:50pm: AD BREAK #2
4:53pm: Light-hearted/trending stories
4:54pm: Sport with Tim Watson
4:58pm: AD BREAK #3
5:01pm: Major national and local news stories
5:08pm: Showbiz gossip with Peter Ford
5:10pm: AD BREAK #4
5:13pm: More national and local news stories
5:18pm: Local traffic insert
5:19pm: AD BREAK #5
5:22pm: Coming up in 7NEWS at 6pm (localised and pre-recorded)
5:23pm Weather with Jane Bunn
5:26pm Closer, goodbyes

A national afternoon news started in 2003 anchored by David Johnston lasting for half and hour

Indeed, and I think if Seven were to go down the path of a national bulletin again, it could go for an hour this time (given that’s the duration of the afternoon news these days), and that it should be anchored by someone like Peter Mitchell, who brings a lot of authority and credibility.

Unfortunately the only chance of me watching regularly would be it running for 30 minutes like The Latest. Even when The Latest used to regularly run for 40-45 minutes it really was testing my patience as a viewer.

I’d like it, but it wouldn’t work in the current climate.

Too expensive for a daytime show. Keep the Afternoon News at 4pm and The Chase Australia at 5pm.

Good suggestions, I will add them into my post.

I think your schedule might be accurate.
