Mock Schedules

A question what is peoples hesitation with airing anything over Christmas?

Given that shows like Big Brother and I’m A Celebrity are shows where viewers vote people off, I think a lot of would be contestants would be put off being on a show like that over the Christmas period

I can see why you want to air something across Summer, but the Christmas period is where I am not sure as Christmas really is family time.

As you said here, its a pipe dream and it would serve into the more important period of pre-Christmas

However, A Celebrity edition could air from Boxing Day to New Years Eve - 6 Celebrity contestants, one evicted each night. New Years Eve Final would be followed by a big New Years Eve Party at the Big Brother house.

The Daily edition would be say from 7:30pm til 8:30pm followed by an eviction show (wrapping up at around 9pm)

Could they just do a point of no evictions for say December 30th? Christmas for example is on a Tuesday.

so do you mean have 3 finalists instead of 2???

Not sure what you are getting at.

If you start it on Boxing day - the first eviction would be on 27 December, the second would be on the 28 December, third would be on 29 December - at that point you have 3 left - so if you have no evictions on 30 December, you will have 3 left on New Years Eve

Im so confused…

I wouldn’t start it on Boxing Day. I would launch at the conclusion of The Bachelorette and air for 12-13 weeks concluding at the end of the non ratings period.

I’ve never mentioned anything about celebrity big brother that was you… i actually wouldn’t do a celebrity version as they already have Im a celebrity and seem to struggle to get contestants on that.

if you re-read my suggestions you would see idea is slightly different to yours.

Big Brother 23 September to 16 December 2018

Celebrity Big Brother 26 December to 31 December 2018 - this would be followed by a Big Brother New Years party - could potentially run a competition for twin VIP passes to a Big Brother New Years Party - drawn from those that vote in the Big Brother series- one twin pass per week (eg 13 twin passes)

Big Brother Daily Show could be paired up with Australian Idol and screen between 7:30pm to 9:00 (or 9:30) with Big Brother Daily show screening for half hour Monday to Thursday followed by Australian Idol at 8pm

Australian Idol could air Monday to Thursday from 24 September 2018 through to Thursday 22 November 2018 and screening the Australian Idol Finale on the back of Big Brother Daily Show on the special night of Sunday 25 November 2018 (which would move the weekly eviction show to Monday 26 November 2018 at 8pm)

There is talk of Nine airing Big Brother over summer if it is without cricket and tennis.

I can’t see it coming back to Ten but stranger things have happened.

With all the discussion on saving ten at the moment I thought it might be nice to look at a new schedule for ten over summer. I am still sold on making Big Brother the platform ten need over summer. I know many won#t like the schedule but this is what I thought. I would also take this opportunity to launch a new digital channel. It will focus on replaying content from the previous day at traditional timeslots like 7:30 for realities and 8:30 for light entertainment/drama.

EVERY NIGHT ON TEN (INCLUDING SATURDAYS)
4:30 Bold and the Beautiful
5:00 Afternoon News
6:00 Pointless
7:00 The Project
8:00 Ten Eye Witness News
10:30 Ten Late News

SUNDAY

8:30 Big Brother: Daily
9:30 Big Brother: Eviction

MONDAY
8:30 Big Brother: Daily
9:00 Big Brother: Nominations
9:30 Have You Been Paying Attention?

TUESDAY
8:30 Big Brother: Daily
9:30 Hughesy We Have a Problem

WEDNESDAY
8:30 Big Brother: Daily
9:30 Big Brother: Uncut

THURSDAY
8:30 Big Brother: Daily
9:30 Big Brother: Thursday Night Games

FRIDAY
8:30 Big Brother: Daily
9:30 The Living Room: Summer Edition

SATURDAY
8:30 All Star Family Feud
9:30 Graham Norton Show

beginning of ratings will look something like this (taking the same idea as before regarding Thank God You’re Here but reducing to three times a week)

9:30 Sunday Night Takeaway

Monday
8:30 Thank God You’re Here The Competition
9:30 Hughesy We Have a Problem

Last time I checked, it was

The schedule where Studio 10 starts at 8am could look something like this

6:00am The Talk
7:00am Ten Morning News
8:00am Studio 10
10:30am Ten Mid Morning News
11:00am Everyday Gourmet (or other cooking show)
11:30am Entertainment Tonight.
12:00pm Dr Phil
1:00pm Reality Program
2:00pm Young And The Restless
3:00pm Judge Judy
3:30pm Game Show encore
4:00pm as scheduled

Assuming Ten can obtain the concept rights, you could be onto something

Alternatively, maybe trial some new game shows that could either be daily shows (should they need a replacement for the existing game shows) or a weekly game show.

Perhaps they could market the offerings CBS has during the day with a view of the Australian versions being weekly shows. maybe Sunday/Monday Lets Make A Deal (1 hour) and The Price Is Right (1 hour) maybe Wednesday/Thursday, maybe with first run comedy on Tuesday night.

@turdall - my suggestion is only an alternative IF Ten cannot get the rights to Big Brother

Here is a schedule that would be different, maintaining some of the structure already enjoyed by Ten but unlikely to ever eventuate

5:00pm Ten First at Five News (National Bulletin)
5:45pm Game Show (Game of Games, Pointless, Family Feud, Blind Date or whatever they are planning)
6:15pm Ten Eyewitness News (State Edition)
6:45pm The Project
7:30pm Resume schedule as normal

Personally don’t like nor think the quarter past quarter to times would work

Thats why it won’t happen. My idea comes from the fact most people in the major capitals get home just after 6pm so usually miss the first part of the news. But as I said it is unlikely to ever happen, as most people are disgruntled by programs not running to the half hour

6pm news is almost always the top rating show on television. I don’t think it is what needs attention.

Call me old fashioned, or OCD, but News in primetime needs to start at a rounded number, in my opinion. Top of the hour, whatever hour it is.
