If I was 10 if I was to axe the project I wouldn’t try another current affairs program in the same slot. I would go back to what worked previously.

4.5 hours of news in the afternoon?

It was done in jest.

But then again, Seven has news (as such) from 5am until 1pm every weekday, with the Early News at 5am, Sunrise at 5.30am, The Morning Show at 9am and the News at Midday (12pm)

Crazy theory, hear me out on this one.

Could 10 be positioning itself for a serious bid for the NRL rights?

No real investment on Friday nights, no investment whatsoever on Saturday.

Me thinks 10 will look to air Friday night and Saturday night NRL games. Perhaps a Sports themed show preceding between 6 and 7 on Saturday streamlining all nights.

I also believe 10 are positioning to dump Deal or No Deal, when Big Brother arrives and the whole watch and stream positioning will see 10 News Late move to 10pm on television as well as streaming concurrently.

In all seriousness, I have the same tinfoil hat on here. I reckon they are.

10 News + flow mock:

2 minute rapid fire ‘top stories’ run through. Standing presentation. Both presenters, alternating.

In-depth look at one of the days top stories, with a live relevant cross. Single presenter, alternate. 4 minutes.

Break, 3 minutes.

– 9 minutes

1 minute rapid fire ‘happening now’ run through.

In-depth look at another of the days top stories, with a live relevant cross. Single presenter, alternate. 4 minutes.

Break, 3 minutes.

– 17 minutes

1 minute rapid fire ‘developing’ stories run through.

First special report / investigation, with a live relevant cross. Single presenter, alternate. 5 minutes.

Break 3 minutes.

– 26 minutes

2 minute rapid fire ‘headlines’ run through. Standing presentation. Both presenters, alternating.

In-depth look at one of the days top stories, with a live relevant cross. Single presenter, alternate. 4 minutes.

Break 3 minutes.

– 35 minutes

1 minute rapid fire ‘across the socials’ run through.

In-depth look at another of the days top stories, with a live relevant cross. Single presenter, alternate. 4 minutes.

Break 3 minutes.

– 43 minutes

1 minute rapid fire ‘developing’ stories run through.

Second special report / investigation, with a live relevant cross. Single presenter, alternate. 5 minutes.

Break 3 minutes.

– 51 minutes.

1 minute rapid fire ‘happening now’ run through.

[Alternating segment]

  • Entertainment with Angela Bishop. Let this be the segment for international and local artists, novelists, comedians - to make up for the loss of The Project space people are decrying. 6 minutes.

  • a lighter look at the news, with a comedian at the desk. 6 minutes.

  • ‘your voice’ with Denham and Amelia out in the field doing quick voice pop interviews with everyday Australian’s from all walks of life for their take on the news of the week and what really matters to them. 6 minutes.

  • ‘Question Time’ quick rapid fire 3 person panel, with short answers to questions curated from ‘your voice’. A mini qanda if you will. 6 - 7 minutes.

2 minute rapid fire ‘recap, developing’, with a ‘the 10 news team will stay across this throughout the evening and bring you the latest at [insert time] on 10 Late News. That’s all from us here at 10 News Plus for this evening.’

– close

I know i will probably get criticism from these ideas for 10, but i will say these anyway. Two programs i would love to see made are the following.

Star Search - possibly for Friday or Saturday at 7:30pm. Use the format that the Greg Evans version did. Professional or semi-professionals appearing and being judged by industry professionals.

On This Day - this would delve into news archives and show stories of significance from each day - a show that could be pre-recorded and screen daily at 7am and encores on secondary channels

Just a random idea for a replacement to 10News+:

PM (working title, open to suggestions)

Basically like Seven Sharp in NZ and The Project. Or The Morning Show but at night.

It would ideally have two main presenters and maybe a reporter or Late News presenter in the newsroom doing news updates

Studio: 10 Football studio, updated with PTZ cameras to save costs.

Rundown could look a little bit like this:

6pm - 6:10pm: News, Sport and Weather
6:10 - 15pm: Lighter news stories (e.g Panda gives birth)
6:15 - 6:30pm: Lifestyle segments (cooking, TikTok stars, celebrity news etc) - Prerecorded during the day to save on staff costs.
6:30 - 6:35: News recap + Weather check
6:35 - 6:50: Lifestyle
6:50 - 7pm: Good News, Entertainment and other gap filling lighter stories

OR if they extended local news to 6:30:

6pm - 6:10pm: News, Sport and Weather
6:10 - 6:25pm: Lifestyle segments (cooking, TikTok stars, celebrity news etc)
6:25 - 6:30pm: Good News, Entertainment and other gap filling lighter stories

6.00: 10 News Extra (a faster paced 10 News +)
6.30: Neighbours *
7.00: Deal or No Deal
7.30: Primetime

On Fridays: 6 - 7pm: 10 News+ with Hugh and Ursula (Neighbours only airs Monday - to Thursday).

Neighbours Series Final is December 11. Jamie Oliver Christmas Specials and Dog House Australia to air after that. And a complete refresh in January 2026.

I think 10 needs to look at the past to potentially shape its future schedule. Yes, viewer behaviours change but here are 3 potential programs/formats they should at least consider in a staggered way.

  1. A reboot of sorts of GMA - think something compact like TVAM/Sunrise early years. A 1 hour show, possibly at 7am weekdays
  2. A daily state based morning style show - think Good Morning Sydney etc
  3. A late morning news style program - similar to 11AM

Weekends

  1. A Sunday style show
  2. A Meet The Press style show
  3. Reboot of Business Week
  4. A Saturday or Sunday morning sports show - simlar to Sports World and Sports Sunday.
  5. A weekend edition of the 11AM style show
  6. Reboot of Video Hits - i would schedule it from 6am through until 8am or 8:30am with the content above filling out the mornings

You would not invest in all these at once but could provide a stable alternative to the weekend editions of the weekday shows
