Millionaire Hotseat

Not in repeat mode though. 133k at 7pm is not acceptable

But 121k before it is?

She’s not an actress lol

No. But we are talking about Deal or No Deal at 7pm in repeat mode halving its ratings from the week before. This comparrison has noting to do with 10news+ which is awful all week long.

Hot Seat needs to be new episodes from day one all the way to the final episode. No need for repeats on Thursday and Fridays. Heck, even have a “big win” later in the week, rather than always on a Monday and Tuesday.

This has been the trend over the last few years that a repeat is shown on the Friday. What ever happened to showing 5 episodes in a week?

Money. They don’t have to give away as much if they show reruns a few times a week.

I get that it comes down to a financial decision and one less episode in production save money too.

Actually she wrote and appeared in the parody, A Town Like Dallas on the Midday Show with Ray Martin. Not the most prominent of roles, but technically Gretel Killeen is an actress

That isn’t the case this year.

At least 10 gives 3 days’ notice instead of letting viewers attending tapings and finding out.

Now the next question is whether there are tweaks here-and-there to gameplay from the Nine version?

(Timeslots will be announced whenever 10 wants.)

Well the big question is whether it’s 30 or 60 minutes. Feels like the shorter format is less of a risk but 10 probably will have 60 minutes to fill in the New Year.

Isn’t it?

So I was right after all.

Sorry, I was talking about more of a “front page” approach. (Unless that wasn’t the norm either.)

Overall it was still announced through this medium.

That depends on the scale of the story/show.

But as @JohnsonTV pointed out, these PR drops to the Sundays are common.

Welcome Rebecca Gibney to the hosting role. She is likeable to just about everyone.

I hope that the show’s return in 2026 is 30 minutes long, like Nine’s version when it first started. 10 has had a good run with 30 minute gameshows (Deal and Family Feud). And 30 minutes Hot Seat is fast paced. Moving it to one hour like what Nine eventually did was tiresome. Too much padding for just 15 questions.

I would agree. The irony of having a segment called Fastest Finger First that took half the runtime of the episode and didn’t even reward the winning player with the first crack was draining. I would have it as the half-hour format but add in the traditional FFF to determine the first player, then rotate from there.

Rebecca Gibney posted on her Instagram this morning, quoting the headline from the Sunday Herald Sun report.

Cats out of the bag! I am honoured to be stepping on to the set of a show I have been a fan of for many years. Millionaire Hot Seat has changed the lives of so many people around the world and to asked to be the first female host is an absolute privilege. One of my first jobs out of school was working for a radio station where I was the Radio Windy Big Spender and for a time I was giving away cash prizes to random people on the street. To watch their expressions change when they realised they had won something was such a thrill for me. Fast forward over 40 years and I know I will share that same excitement when it happens again as I host this incredible show. Thank you to the extraordinary Jo Porter @curio_pictures who made that first call to me a while back to ask if I would consider something new. Jo was also the person who changed my life many years ago when she offered me the role of Julie Rafter. How could I possibly say no? :face_holding_back_tears::folded_hands: You are a powerhouse Jo and I love that we are back together again. Thank you also to the wonderful folk @channel10au @paramountplusau for such an incredible opportunity and for your faith in me. I can’t promise there won’t be nerves or even tears but I can guarantee a lot of love, laughter and I will give it 1000 percent  I know I have big shoes to fill but I said when I turned 60 I wasn’t going to let fear stop me from trying new things - so here we go!!!:heart:
