Surely SCA have gotta be looking at tweaking Mix 94.5’s playlist to be straight up CHR, Nova’s lead in Perth is out of control, beyond even the sort of share that Mix was getting when it dominated in the 2000s.
No.1 analogue radio station in Perth belongs to … Nova owned by NOVA entertainment
No.1 digital only radio station in Perth belongs to … Smooth owned by NOVA entertainment
I see a pattern here …
Just working on going broke
Targeting a niche market and sponsors happy to pay big dollars for an outlet.
I doubt they are in any trouble.
Probably not
Does “Other stations” include DAB+ listening (e.g. Smooth FM in Perth)? Otherwise south of Perth (Kwinana and Rockingham areas) you can pick up Coast FM (next best thing to No. 1 Nova FM with the same format) and Wave FM (what Mix 94.5 used to be so equivalent in the Perth market). To add insult to injury both these station deliver 96 kbps digital quality unmatched by any of the Perth DAB stations, worth putting up an VHF antenna pointed towards Mandurah just for that!
How can a supposed journalist type so poorly?
Why pay to be in the ratings at all?
A decent jump for Triple M breakfast in Sydney, despite it probably being the worst output of the year in that timeslot
That’s what I don’t get. If they really don’t care about the ratings why are they in them? It would be less embarrassing to opt out. Then they could spin however they like.
They’re possibly in it to get the more detailed breakdowns (which aren’t publicly available) for when Sports are on. The ratings for when the AFL/NRL/Origin are on is far more relevant to them than who’s listening at 10am on Wednesdays.
That’s a good question and to be honest I am not sure. The DAB ratings are separate, so perhaps the answer is no, and “other” is specifically for AM/FM.
Considering DAB has over a million listeners in Sydney and Melbourne, listening via DAB or streaming, then “other” most likely would not include DAB listening, but I’m not 100% sure.
If someone knows the answer to this, it would be interesting to know.
You generally need to be in the ratings for the agencies to look at you to spend advertisting $$$.
And maybe even 101fm Logan and Bay fm Redlands.
What about 2SM?
How much agency advertising do they get? ARN have them group with the regional stations for national sales.
Hardly highlights for 2GB … exact opposite! Both shifts have been struggling for some time and now score less than half of the GB audience share from breakfast and mornings. Jim has left the building and Ms Knight may not be far behind? Keep Joe Hildebrand on Afternoons. Fortunately the mercurial John Stanley rescues the side with his incredible 20+ at night with daylight 2nd and 3rd.
2GB Arvo’s & Drive have always been their weakness. Even back in the days of Phillip Clarke and then Ben Fordham.
