A good time to be KIIS… another new record high for KIIS/Sydney, and KIIS/Melbourne jumps to its best since S6/2001.

2DayFM’s Carrie & Tommy beating 2GB Drive.

Just digest that for a moment.

3AW made gains in all timeslots while ABC Melbourne dropped across the board.

The biggest mover was Will and Woody on KIIS, up 2.8 to 10.4% to be 0.1 behind Fox’s Carrie and Tommy. 3AW’s Tom Elliott won the timeslot (again) then Gold, Fox and KIIS, all four of which posting double figures.

Nova’s Chrissie, Sam and Browny were not able to end their 7 year run on a high, finishing with a 7.5% share in the final survey, equal with KIIS’ Jase and Lauren.

SEN’s live coverage of T20 World Cup, and the debut of Sportsday with Gerard Healy and Kane Cornes, didn’t help the station’s ratings this survey.

“Other stations” is quite large for Brisbane and Perth. I’m guessing River 94.9, Rebel, Breeze and the Sunshine Coast stations would be getting the lions share of this in Brisbane.

Jeez thats some big movement between Nova/KIIS/Fox in Melbourne. KIIS the clear winner here

Definitely a good book for KIIS101.1.

As for Perth, it is clear that Mix94.5’s glory days are over. Nova93.7 have been on fire this past year.

And I’m not sure why there was all that negativity towards Mix102.3 breakfast - the station is No.1 overall, which is an amazing result considering the brekkie movements this year.

Amazing results for ARN across the board with the exception of 973.

ARNs DAB figures very impressive, especially in Sydney.

The Other stations when up in Brisbane by 1.3.

0.2 for SEN in Brisbane, what a disastrous result with 0 listeners between the ages of 18 and 39.

Looking at the Sydney ratings in greater detail, it’s interesting to note that 2MMM’s best performing demo is the 55-64s, where it scored an 8.9% share, placing themselves in 4th place. Also, in that same demo, 2Day outrated KIIS, which isn’t too surprising, considering that they play a bit of 80s in its music format.

SENQ would like to thank its single listener in the afternoon shift that allowed 693 to gain a 0.1 share, rather than a 0.0

As a sign of our appreciation we are sending Ron Eastman of New Farm a turkey for Christmas.

SENQ would like to remind everyone that whilst our highest share in any shift is only a 0.3%, our website in Brisbane receives an average of 12.2 million hits an hour.

I sometimes think SEN/SENQ forget they even have a radio frequency.

They’re always too focused on podcast downloads/web traffic.

I don’t see the point of wasting & taking up terrestrial radio.

Looking at the Melbourne ratings, it’s worth noting that KIIS 101.1 is #1 in both the 18-24s & 25-39s, beating out Fox. Smooth outrates Nova in the 18-24s.

Meanwhile, 3MP had a decent rise in the 65+, going up 2.5 to 5.7%, whilst Magic rated only 2.5%, down 0.6 from the previous survey.

Magic needs some work. The music is not too bad but please stop playing 3 minute radio edits of longer songs. Someone in a earlier thread suggested that Magic should relaunch as 3XY. A great heritage brand (even though its been 30+ years now) would not do them any harm. Their highest ratings in this survey were in the 65+ category with a 2.5. Making some subtle changes to the music and some decent station jingles would improve their ratings.

It’s taken Ali Clarke & co a year but it looks like they’ve finally made it back to the top of the Breakfast radio mountain (just).
