Still, it’s not promising is it, particularly the 2UE decline, that’s clearly due to the change to sport.
Yep, I’m actually starting to wonder if Macquarie Sports Radio might get less than 1% of Sydney radio listeners during the next survey!
True, no doubt the Macquarie Morons will talk it up saying early days yet and so on but surely if they were really serious and I doubt it very much ALL sport currently on 2GB/3AW/4BC would have moved to Macquarie Sports regardless of the ratings. Some of the better Talking Lifestyle segments such as Trevor Long, Matthew Tsukai, Jono Coleman could have moved to 2GB weekend afternoons. It is just a waiting game now for next format.
In the AFL radio ratings, 3AW won all four timeslots.
FRIDAY - 3AW (9.5), ABC (7.5), Triple M (7.5), SEN (3.6).
SATURDAY - (until 5.30pm) - 3AW (8.9), Triple M (6.7), ABC (6.3), SEN (3.5).
SATURDAY NIGHT - 3AW (8.4), ABC (5.9), SEN (5.4), Triple M (4.8).
SUNDAY - 3AW (8.3), Triple M, (7.6), ABC (6), SEN (4.8).

Well that means they doubled the listening audience on 1278 in their timeslot - so they did double their ratings - just the they is MSR and not the opposing program on SEN…
Obviously cume doesn’t mean share, but to just point out - if you include digital stations…

29th! Beaten by 13 digital stations in Melbourne - and no doubt also by most community stations and Classic Rock.
Even ABC Grandstand beat MSR for cumulative audience in Melbourne!
They did better in Brisbane and Sydney - 13th in both - though that meant losing to Coles Radio in Brisbane.
It is heading in that direction. The slightly higher Breakfast and weekend ratings may be due to the last handful of shows of John Stanley & Garry Linnell, Pete Graham and Sharina, as you indicated.
Couldn’t/wouldn’t there be contractual issues which would prevent such a move happening?
Wish the AFL/NRL ratings were publicized each survey - hard to comment/make comparisons about them when the numbers are only published every now and then
I wonder what the numbers for ABC Brisbane’s breakfast look like if the 7:45 news and AM are excluded.
Same for Melbourne, I suspect a sizeable turn on at 7:45.
20.9% for Breakfast with Ross and John MRN should be throwing the cash at them. Incredible a show that’s over 16 years old can still achieve that!
Aren’t they already? No doubt both have many zeros in their salary
Yes, but as another comment here alluded to, there’s been talk of John Burns retiring?
Throwing money at someone who is already very well off and no doubt tired of getting up at 3am is probably not going to stop them retiring. They would be better to invest in a succession plan rather than try to put off the inevitable retirement.
The Sydney 6-7pm weeknights men ratings, in which 2MMM’s “Rush Hour” wins its timeslot on among men.
I’d like to see a breakdown of “men” into bogans and non bogans
