Slight cume dip survey-on-survey by 3AW, however up on Survey 1, 2024.
Time Spent Listening is through the roof for 3AW this survey. We’re talking nearly 3 hours extra a week vs Survey 8, 2024. Won’t publish those figures publicly due to GfK rules, but it’s 3AW’s highest TSL they’ve ever had in recent memory.
The sound quality of AM isn’t great, so many listeners prefer streaming the station.
70% of 3AW’s listening is done at home. Traditional AM/FM-only ‘table’ radios aren’t as prominently sold as they once were, meaning many home listeners stream the station through various internet-connected devices.
Those who do use a normal radio to listen to 3AW are doing so on DAB+ Digital. But that’s providing you’re in or within the Melbourne broadcast area. However, much of Geelong can also receive the Melbourne DAB+ stations, unofficially. You do though need to have your radio’s aerial extended fully in order to receive the signals reliably.
Apparently 4BH in Brisbane has very high streaming numbers too. Again, it’s older listeners listening at home. Most people just don’t have AM radios at home anymore. They either get a DAB radio or listen online.
Fitzy and Wippa have a producers podcast on Fridays where it was mentioned that they scored their highest ratings ever and highest cume ever. Interesting that they are on the way up even after 14 years.
Having Chrissie Swan in place of Kate Ritchie might have given them a boost for survey 1.
This has to be the first time EVER that SCA have written/commented on a positive article purely dedicated to Triple M without mentioning the Hit Network.
It’s about time they shared some love to the M’s network.
