Former federal government minister and VFL Commissioner Peter Nixon died last Thursday (May 1) at 97.

Former federal MP, and former Victorian government minister Charles Race Mathews has died at 90.

According to an obituary in The Age today, Mathews died from Alzheimer’s Disease.

Matildas captain Sam Kerr and her fiancé Kristie Mewis have announced the birth of their first child.

Don’t be so pessimistic

It’s true. Under current FIFA rules, Jagger can represent the country of their parents and/or grandparents (I believe). Sam is Australian and her parents have Indian ancestry. Kristie is American, can’t find anything on her parents. I think birth country also counts as well, so add English to it.

International football, indeed anything to do with FIFA is weird. Google “FIFA eligbility rules” (since I’m either not, or no one is, allowed to put a Wikipedia link)

Former Australian cricketer Bob Cowper has died at 84. Cowper played 27 Tests between 1964 and 1968 before suddenly retiring when he was just 28, to chase a career as a stockbroker and merchant banker. He scored 302 over 12 hours against England at the MCG in February 1966, Test cricket’s first triple century on Australian soil.
