How odd in this day and age, news staying hidden this long

I suppose if one is well and truly out of the spotlight it’s easy for their passing to go relatively unnoticed or be made “news” by the media.

Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner (Sansa) and Joe Jonas of Jonas Brothers have announced their engagement.

Iain Shedden, music writer for The Australian since 1998, has died aged 60. He has worked for the paper for over 25 years. He started his first band The Jolt when he started his career in Scotland, before becoming a drummer of London bands The Small Hours and The Saints.

Actress Judith McGrath has reportedly passed away, aged 70.

Sad news. Loved her as Von on All Saints.

And Colleen Powell in Prisoner

Judith was a brilliant actress who portrayed some great characters in Prisoner, A Country Practice, All Saints.

and we can’t forget Matron Gribble in Round the Twist either.

A sad loss.

One of the most traumatic things I saw on television as a young child was the car bomb that took the lives of Colleen Powell’s husband and children in Prisoner. I hated that officious Deputy Governor character to begin with but came to love her because she was played with such heart by Judith when those dramatic storylines came her way. Sad news.

Herald Sun reports McGrath passed away last Friday evening, surrounded by her family and friends in her hometown of Brisbane, according to her management company.

Former Adelaide TV presenter Margaret Glazbrook has died aged 86. She was the second host of A Touch of Elegance, taking over from Jaye Walton in October 1979 until December 1989.
