MasterChef Australia

I think I know who’s gonna win this round 2 challenge by looks of the promo

Qatar Week next week.

One of the cooking challenges of Qatar Week was held at the Qatar Airways Al Mourjan Business Lounge at Doha Airport.

From a B&T article in May:

One of the most audacious integrations yet? An entire episode filmed in the business lounge of Qatar Airways’ Doha Airport hub—benches, logistics and all. “We’ve never had episodes in such a strong location,” (Network 10’s Head of Non-Scripted Sarah) Thornton said. “I think all of the cooks came back totally inspired and I think that the episodes themselves are some of the most interesting that Masterchef has ever had”.

Here are the brief synopses of International Week aka Qatar Week.

Sunday 6 July
The cooks transport the judges’ tastebuds overseas with destination dishes.

Monday 7 July
Cooks arrive on their trip away, to face a mystery box with local ingredients.

Tuesday 8 July
Contestants cook a fine dining menu, inspired by local cultural sights.

Wednesday 9 July
It’s our cooks’ final day away, and they have one last chance at immunity.

Sunday 13 July
Four contestants face off in an emotional dual duel elimination.

I am not sure why the synopses do not mention Qatar by name, given Qatar Airways is a new sponsor for this season, and that it now operates more flights between Qatar and Australia, with a Virgin Australia flight number and branding.

Obviously no one is elimated this week

No, someone would still be going home in tonight’s elimination, however the top four dishes would earn their makers a special prize.

EDIT: Audra was eliminated. Ben, Jamie, Laura and Sarah cooked the top four dishes, and would travel on business class on the Melbourne-Doha flight.

Video of Jamie, Ben, Sarah and Laura travelling on business class to Doha.

EDIT: some fans claimed the scenes filmed for this video were staged.

I’m surprised they let them all fly business

All from season 6

Qatar would have supplied the flights. Not that surprising.

Those 4 contestants were so lucky they got to fly business class,it looks like these seats have a proper fold out seat that becomes a bed

Executive Traveller has an article on the QSuite business class for those who are interested.

Yes it’s the Q suite. I’ve flown that before and it’s an excellent business product.

Only the contestants that won the challenge got to fly business but it was clearly a sponsored trip.

Apparently, the winner of tonight’s immunity challenge, shot at the business lounge, would not only skip Sunday’s elimination, but also fly on business class on the flight back to Melbourne.

Nine revealed tonight that the new season of The Block would start on Sunday, July 27.

Is it possible that 10 will change its own schedule so that the MasterChef grand final will not air on the same week as The Block?

I would hope not. I would think that the Grand Final of MasterChef would actually assist in eroding the premiere of The Block.

It looks like Seven will do the same with DWTS finale the same night (at this stage) so The Block might be up against 2 finales.

It would probably cost an arm and a leg though😕

The promo for Sunday had Laura on the ground crying and all the other contestants in the elimination running to comfort her. I wonder if this is at the end of the cook and we could get a shock Laura exit? I hope so - I don’t dislike Laura but it has felt a very Callum and Laura favored season.
