MasterChef Australia

I’m not surprised that Chloe decided to use her immunity pin, this is a very hard elimination challenge tonight

Great ep, is it sad that I love elimination eps? So sorry for Miles, he was amazing going on MasterChef.

Yep :stuck_out_tongue:

Only 4 guys left now,Brett,Matt,Harry and Trent, safe to say now one of the girls will win .Though one of the guys was due to win this season following the pattern of past seasons ,a girl wins, then a guy wins next season , then a girl wins

A guy can still win. I think some of the male contestants are much stronger than the female ones. I didn’t watch tonights episodes as I am ‘busy’ studying for an exam. Who had this standout dish in the elimination, ‘Masterchef winner’ quality.

It was Elena’s Spanish pork three ways dish which delivered “MasterChef winner” quality. While watching tonight’s episode, I tried to remember what was on the preview at the end of last night’s Chinatown challenge and match it with the dishes from tonight. I initially thought it would be Miles, Harry or Matt who cooked “the dish of the season”.
Poor Miles, he was overwhelmed by the occasion. Japanese cuisine was right up his alley since he spent five years in the country and his son is now a Japanese chef. But Miles spent too much time on the tempura and not getting the salmon right. He even dropped the sashimi but the cured salmon was not cured enough, no wonder he was gone. He told The Mackay Daily Mercury and News Corp today that he is now back in Queensland as a park ranger but has found new love, a former workmate named Tania, and they plan to marry in December this year.
Unusual to see Mimi struggling in tonight’s episode given she was a strong cook. She was really puzzled by the combination of lamb and Thai cuisine (how many people eat lamb in Thailand, I wonder) and barely came up with a vermicelli salad.
So much happened to Chloe in such a short period: from winning the chance to compete against a chef to get her second immunity pin, to deciding to use her remaining pin to save herself from elimination. With next week the Power Apron Week, had Chloe retained the pin, got through tonight’s challenge and win the apron in Sunday’s episode, she would reach the top 10 in no time at all.

…in your opinion.

The obsession producers have with Chloe is very puzzling. She has been horrible on so many cooks this season, and yet was almost lined up for even a second immunity pin this week, and the judges thought her captaining a team yesterday was fantastic.

It’s really weird.

It was Elena,I haven’t seen much of her up until now,she was one of the forgotten contestants. The judges really praised Harry’s dish also

Anna’s dessert tonight is even more complex than Heston’s creation for last year’s grand final…[/quote]

Isn’t that the second time this season you’ve said a dessert was more complex than Heston’s? It wasn’t. Heston’s was five hours, and they barely finished, while the white chocolate mess was three hours.

Zoe and Mimi are the two I’d like to go as far as possible. Mimi drew the short straw with Thai and lamb but really should have done better. Both are very lucky to still be there.

Reminiscent of Georgia last year and Dani back in the day.

Interesting ingredients in Luke Nguyen’s mystery box. Where did they get betel leaves and crickets from?
Elise worked so hard to have her dish tasted for the mystery box challenge for the first time and eventually won the power apron, only to waste the 30-minute advantage in the invention test when she failed to understand the restriction that she could only fry the ingredients when using cooktop, and therefore could not make a jus for her quail in the normal way. Zoe struggled in invention test too when she tried to deep fry a whole snapper. When she thought the first fish might not be cooked properly, she panicked and ran to get a second snapper, when she could have cut a small piece out of her fish to see if it was undercooked, and pan fry the fish if needed.

When I first saw the synopsis for tomorrow night’s episode I thought something was amiss. It only said the 12 remaining contestants were told by the three judges there would be special guests, they did not expect the guests to be eliminated contestants.
There is no immunity this week because it’s Power Apron Week. But it would mean 13 contestants for the team challenge on Wednesday. How was that going to work?

Interesting point.

The Voice & House Rules are nearing the end and only air a couple of nights a week now.

But is MasterChef even half way? Considering they only finished filming last month…

Last year MC went for 12 weeks plus the grand final. This week was week 7 so the season should be half way through.

All three girls struggled during tonight’s pressure test. Zoe overreducing her syrup and Elise mixing the cake ingredients too quickly (making it lumpy), both were big mistakes and enough to send either of them home.

Was that burnt fruit butter even safe to eat? Stupid dessert.

Not looking forward to eliminated contestants coming back either…
