The Projectâs tribute was spot on. I couldnât imagine a more fitting and perfectly executed lead-in to MasterChef. I got quite teary at times particularly with Andyâs interview and Jimmy Barnes song. In a way it made watching MasterChef a lot easier because weâd had that moment to reflect on Jock and his life prior.
Then MasterChef got off to a good start too. The slightly smaller cast makes a difference. Even though we still didnât see some contestants, itâs a much better number to start off with.

The secret advantage for the winner of the first cooking challenge of the season, was the new light grey colour, second chance apron, which allowed the wearer to take part in the very next elimination challenge, after he or she was initially eliminated.
Larissa was the first lucky recipient of the second chance apron. Just hope she didnât have to use it at all.
I wonder though if this apron replaced the immunity pin of the past few seasons?

Both the Project tribute and the messages before and after MasterChef were very tastefully done. Kudos to 10. Like others I found Andyâs bit on the Project very harrowing, it must have been so hard for him to do. I found once I got into the 1st episode the upbeat feeling and general vibes of the Masterchef kitchen made me believe that the season would be a fitting tribute to Jock and his life. Vale Jock, the good ones always go too soon.

I think from now itâs best to give the tributes a rest and let people enjoy the season the way it was supposed to.
Then a final final tv send off after the finale.

I just finished watching the tribute to Jock on ten play. They had it on there ad-free.

Totally agree. The tribute was a perfect lead in to a thoroughly enjoyable first episode. The tribute at the end of the episode was a lovely touch. Ten has done a brilliant job under terrible circumstances. Now itâs time to watch the season as it was intended and perhaps one last tribute at the end of the final episode.

Episode 2 tonight and there is no playing of Hot n Cold and the intro featuring the contestants in action.

Could it be the words, âyouâre hot then youâre cold ⊠youâre up then youâre downâ for example, in relation to Jockâs passing, 10 / ESA carefully reviewing the eps and re-editing? Even if trivial on the surface.

Sunday HS vet Fiona Byrne in one of her reg spots with 3AW radioâs Dee Dee this afternoon was talking about last night, both asking listeners did you watch The Project and/or MC and how they rated, one caller rang in and said absolutely - never in doubt, while another said she wasnât going to despite being a long time âavidâ fan, but did so, both Project and the show proper and whilst it hurt, she still stuck it out and enjoyed it and will continue. Both were women and sounded a middle aged and older demographics. Iâve no doubt there wouldâve been and will still be many who canât yet watch, though conversely many mightâve tuned-in and plenty might stick who otherwise wouldnât have. I think 10 have handled the past week superbly.

Maybe, but I doubt it. There were some subtle phrases he used in last nightâs show that were innocent but an extremely cautious edit might have had them removed, but they may not be being as super cautious as we might have thought.

That and they might have decided to edit this weekâs episodes to be minus the intro and some other more generic/easily removed/identified elements, where the next week onwards will be more carefully combed through and edited.
Now I kid you not. If channel 10 and the MCAU team wants to keep Masterchef forward and onwards. I think Jamie Oliver is the perfect judge for next year
Not wrong, but no way could they afford that, nor would he want to.

Media Watch had some coverage of Jockâs death centred on some media jumping to conclusions about the cause.

I get the feeling the episodes arenât being edited at all. Jock saying âyou live or dieâ by the yolk being runny in one of the cooks ravioli was something I thought they would have edited out.
