I will go as far as to say that he is almost unbearable to watch. He just comes across as completely full of himself. He puts on the poor me voice, is way too competitive and makes everything about him. Most of the other contestants come across as having a lot of fun but I just get weird vibes from Thorpe.
He is just so depressing to watch. Nothing upbeat or uplifting about his appearance, and about as good as his commentator stint at the Olympics.
Cheer up grumpy bollocks (as Gordon Ramsay would say).
Julie Goodman as one of the Faves!
Foodies vs Favourites theme next year.
Julie Goodwin and Sarah Todd announced as joining the series next year as contestants.
Foodies vs FavouritesâŚis a former producer of The Block now working on MasterChef?!
Hey at least, theyâre wonât be any drama for MCAU next year.
10 will be hoping that âFoodies vs Favouritesâ doesnât do to MasterChef what Fans vs Favourites did for MKR (ie; bomb completely in the ratings and ended the showâs original run)
Thanks for that insight.
Difference is that for Masterchef it is well known for being a feel good show that emphasises healthy competition and all of their contestants are pretty popular. MKR on the other became a total w**kfest for their fake drama and no one on their was likeable last year.
Now we could say that for The Block this year as well (since theyâve adopted a similar concept) but for some bizarre reason it still rates when the same tricks for MKR failed. 10 are running a different race for Masterchef in this iteration in that they hope the healthy competition and popularity of returning contestants will give them an advantage to rejuvenate the show for next year.
What I was getting at with the comparison was the trajectory of both shows ratings-wise. While MKRâs ratings had declined since 2017, the Fans v Favourites season accelerated that and ultimately resulted in the original showâs demise.
MasterChef had to go to a âstuntâ season (ie; Back to Win) in order to disrupt the ratings trajectory that show was on. Since a âregularâ season this year didnât perform that well, 10 will be hoping that another âstuntâ season again boosts the showâs ratings. If it doesnât, itâs going to suggest that the show is running of gas in itâs current iteration.
I think thereâs a difference between the favourites of MKR (if they ever were) and those from MasterChef that have gone on to become big names in the industry and built significant public profiles including in many cases large social media followings.
Donât speak too soon Julie might start cooking with a LOT of wine.
Collette is special guest on Sandra Sullyâs Short Black podcast this week.
Iâm a bit torn on this theme. Last year it definitely felt like the long standard new contestant season has had its day. Then Back to Win was great⌠but essentially combining the two Iâm not so sure about.
Iâm thinking the Foodies surely must have some level of experience otherwise how can they stack up to the returning calibre that includes former winners?
I was thinking one potential pathway they couldâve tried could be having professional food personalities (but not necesaarily chefs or cooks, rather food writers or critics like Melissa Leong) going up against the returning favourites. Now that would be an incredibly fascinating combo.
Tilly, who is currently competing in Strictly Come Dancing, yesterday called out British DJ Steve Allen, who described her as a âchubby little thingâ on his breakfast show when discussing her recent reality TV appearances.
Today Melissa added her support to Tilly.
Not very cool of this DJ fella.
Tilly shouldâve sat back and unleashed her dad on this bloke. Thatâs where all the fun is.
Junior MasterChef Australia season 3 starts on W Channel in UK tomorrow night (October 26), the night after MasterChef season 13 grand final.
All the contestants that I like are going! First Chrissy and now Dami. Quickly losing interest now.
Same. Only really interested in Rebecca now but canât see her staying much longer.
