MasterChef Australia

It’s Time To Plate Up.

MasterChef Australia Premieres Tuesday, 20 April At 7.30pm.

MasterChef Australia is ready to cook up a degustation menu to delight the senses when the 13th season of the iconic show launches on Tuesday, 20 April at 7.30pm on 10.

Our esteemed judges Jock Zonfrillo, Melissa Leong and Andy Allen return to the MasterChef kitchen ready to be surprised, intrigued and inspired by the country’s next generation of culinary superstars as they battle it out for the title of MasterChef Australia and a cash prize of $250,000.

In 2021, MasterChef Australia will be seasoned to perfection with some of the world’s most recognisable and beloved chefs including the Queen of the kitchen Nigella Lawson, Yotam Ottolenghi, Heston Blumenthal, Massimo Bottura and Clare Smyth, all set to challenge the top 24 contestants.

Plus, homegrown sensations including Curtis Stone, Kirsten Tibballs, Darren Purchese, Alla Wolf-Tasker, Scott Pickett, Poh Ling Yeow, Callum Hann and Reynold Poernomo return to put the cherry on top of a must-watch season.

MasterChef Australia is a cooking competition like no other. It transforms lives, inspires the nation and impresses the world’s best chefs. If season 12 was unmissable, season 13 is deserving of its own Michelin star, with every single member of the top 24 dreaming of holding aloft the coveted trophy.

Best cooks ever. Best food ever. MasterChef Australia premieres Tuesday, 20 April at 7.30pm on 10 and continues Wednesday and Thursday nights.

It is all based on when MAFS ends.

Only three episodes in week one. I wonder when the first elimination will take place and whether the show will return to Sunday-Thursday the following week.

In regards to production of season 13, Endemol Shine said in a statement to Mediaweek:

On the set, changes have been made to the spacing of cooking benches and additional sinks have been added as dedicated hand washing stations. Crew and contestants have limited physical interaction with each other, temperatures are checked daily, and masks are worn at all times when not on camera.

Where are you getting this from? Obviously the first week is only going to be three episodes because it’s starting on a Tuesday but that doesn’t mean that is case all season (unless I’ve missed something?). I’m sure they’ll do a couple doubles of needed to get it in sync with the nights.

Last time MasterChef premiered on a Tuesday (in 2015), there was an elimination episode on Friday of the first week. If what the press release says is correct, the show may not air on Friday this year.

In response to the announcement about when Lego Masters will return, MasterChef has moved up it’s launch by a day to next Monday

Sneak peek of the new season aired tonight during The Cube. Looks like the contestants went to Uluru for a cooking challenge. And last year’s winner Emelia Jackson also appeared in the kitchen.

Wednesday’s episode is the first mystery box set by Emelia , last year’s winner. The 3 best dishes will be given an immunity pin.

Three immunity pins given on one episode? That’s generous!

I’m guessing they will be the only 3 for the entire season.

Usually the previous season’s winner appears on the first cooking challenge of the new season for the top 24. Season 11 winner Larissa Takchi missed out however due to the Back to Win format. Hopefully Larissa would still be involved in the current season.

The upcoming season will premiere on Finnish streaming platform Ruutu on Tuesday, June 1.

According to Ruutu website, it currently has all 12 seasons of MC to catch-up, so it’s up to date with Australia.
No words yet on when the show will be shown in India (Disney+ Hotstar streamed last season with each episode available hours after its Australian broadcast).

I won’t start watching until the top 24 contestants are decided

Details of the 13th season have been released including themed weeks and guest chefs. Good to see the format from last season has been retained.

EDIT:

The Trouble with getting into the Competition is when you get into the Top 50, Once you Made it there, you cannot reapply to return to the Competition even if your Signature Dish has failed to Impress the Judges at Auditions.

MasterChef EP Marty Benson said that he was able to invite Katy Perry to the show last year, because his first boss in TV happened to be the showrunner on American Idol, on which Katy is a judge.

In another interview, Benson revealed Samsung has come onboard as a major sponsor.
