To all of our fans ‘thank you’ To the team that makes MasterChef ‘thank you’ and to all of the contestants that we know and love, we are all part of a very exclusive club and what a journey what an experience. To explain: ‘It was time to move on, have more free time to explore our own creativity’ It was never about the money and never will be about the money. We couldn’t agree on the term of the new contract for 2020 and season 12. Something we felt very strongly about. The opportunity to work with Matt and George has been a blessing and something I cherish. Working together will continue to be the most important thing for us…the three musketeers…

Larissa should appear on Studio 10 in the morning. Her interview will be interesting.

A Herald Sun article is speculating the new judges could be Curtis Stone, Nigella Lawson and Gordon Ramsay…

Curtis Stone can be ruled out as he runs two restaurants in Los Angeles and has a family there too. He only returns to Australia occasionally to film Coles ads and appear on MasterChef.

Seems to me that it’s not about the money from the judges releases. More behind this story for show. Why is George saying dates didn’t align?

Perhaps a hint that the show is moving to late 2020? There was a suggestion somewhere (either this forum or on social media) that MasterChef should move to Q3 or Q4 2020, as 10’s line-up is pretty weak toward the end of survey period in late November. That will mean production will start later as well.
The article says Gary, George and Matt formed their own production company called GGM Pty Ltd (using the combination of the first letter of their names) and sell themselves to 10 as a package deal.

Although many people were happy to see George go because of his involvement in the wage underpayment fiasco, I feel a couple of tweets by unions went too far, such as this one:

Low ratings?

CONTEXT!

It is still the network’s #1 show.

Matt Sinclair is excruciating to watch. His ego is out of control. Billie is lovely but beyond bland. Poh is the standout.

Because he doesn’t want to point attention to him wanting a pay rise?

Making “News” on Sunrise and Today this morning.

Is it? Have you been paying attention rates higher doesn’t it? As did I’m a celebrity didn’t it?

I think they will throw everything at Curtis to do this, and add Shannon and Justine schofield.

Well, it’s not about money if they’re the new judges. None of those would come cheap.

Consider the source or should it be sauce?

A MasterChef insider exclusively confirmed the appointments and said Ten would be making the news official tomorrow.

Reported today, that in addition to wage rise, the trio of judges wanted a percentage of international profits.

In this economic climate, I think Gary, George and Matt may be too greedy to ask for a cut of profits from international program sales. Perhaps they should have made it 3-4 years ago.

I agree. I was expecting after Larissa won for it to fade to a shot of the 3 judges with some words on the screen thanking them for 11 years. Instead it was nothing.

Whilst I think money has to do with some of it I think there definitely is more too it than just that. I do actually believe that the three are really good friends and after doing it together for 11 years if one of them was leaving (e.g. George) they probably thought it was the right time to pull the pin. Ten probably then had discussions with Matt/Gary to try and keep them which included increasing pay or giving them more flexibility in the schedule/filming if they were to stay on which Ten obviously were not willing to do.

This lineup makes sense as it is the extended Masterchef family but I would be very surprised if both Maggie Bier and Curtis commit. It would take a lot for Curtis to spend 6 months of filming in Australia when he has restaurants overseas and Maggie Bier will be 75 in January so I’m not sure if she would want to be making such a big commitment when she lives in SA. Plus neither of them would come cheap. Also as much as people love Poh it would be weird to have a former contestant judging that wasn’t a winner IMO.

If they are employed and paid by Endemol Shine then maybe, but as Ten talent that is a shitload of money to pay on a decaying format. The peak is well and truely passed.
