Seven’s Chief Content Officer, Entertainment Programming, Angus Ross, said: “After more than a decade spanning 26 seasons, the BAFTA award-winning Made in Chelsea is a true phenomenon of the reality TV genre and we can’t wait to bring the Australian version to the screens of Seven and beyond in 2024. Set against the backdrop of some of Australia’s most affluent and beautiful suburbs – and with an amazing cast of Sydney locals – Made in Bondi will be an addictive, glamorous and wild ride that will have viewers hooked from the first minute.”

Karl Warner, Head of Youth and Digital at Channel 4, said: “I’m thrilled to see ‘Made in’ growing into a global franchise. Made in Chelsea has been the jewel in E4’s crown for over 10 years and has become one of the most important digital brands in the C4 portfolio, loved by our audiences across a range of platforms. Jai “lives for the tea.” If there’s gossip to be shared or drama to be seen, she’s front and centre – which often lands her in trouble.

As one of eight siblings, Jai is unfiltered and opinionated. Her friends describe her as “chaotic good.”

Jai works as a Creator Agent at Bella Management, representing Influencers and Celebrities.

Lawson Mahoney (22) – Model

Lawson is loud, funny and relatable, yet he has access to yachts and fast cars!

Born and raised in the Eastern Suburbs, Lawson attended the renowned private all-boys school, The Scots College. His mother is a real estate mogul, and his grandparents owned numerous bars and properties.

Charlie Moore (22) – Hospitality

Lachlan (Lachy) McLean (27) – Model/Influencer and Ex-Athlete

Having attended the renowned Jewish school, Moriah College, Emma knows everyone who’s “anyone” in Bondi.

As the CEO and face of her successful jewellery brand, Emma Pills (projected to be worth over $1 million), Emma knows what it takes to get to the top – and she won’t let anyone get in her way.

Bella Salerno (23) – Content Creator

Born and raised in Sydney, Bella is well-travelled, having spent much of her childhood living in Europe, attending Cheltenham Ladies’ College in the United Kingdom.

Bella doesn’t do things by halves – when she found out her ex-boyfriend (Lawson) cheated on her, she burnt his clothes!

Paul Versace (31) – Successful Stylist

Paul Versace is Sydney’s hottest new stylist and BFF to Emma Pills.

Paul only came out two years ago, aged 30, and has been on a massive journey to find himself and figure out his type in men, which he has come to realise is “good looking!”

Paul admits he falls hard and fast. Paul had his heart broken last year but he’s not slowing down any time soon – in fact, he wants to find a husband this year!

Seems like a good show for overseas audiences and streaming services. Not sure broadcast television will gain a big following though.

Surprised this is on the main channel

It would do well on 7brovo, or maybe as summer fill in show.

It gives MAFS vibes so could find an audience with viewers who like this tacky rubbish. Maybe they should aim it directly at those sorts of viewers.

According to those on set, the majority of the filming (of Made in Bondi) has taken place in Brighton Le Sands, 30 minutes from Bondi Beach.

“They are clearly not making this show for an Australian audience,” one insider said.
“It will be pitched to the international market who won’t know the difference.”

We can also reveal participants are paid as little as $240 for a day on set. In comparison, the Real Housewives of Sydney cast have contracts worth $30,000 to $50,000.

Made in Bondi is here!

TV’s steamiest love triangle set to sizzle

Winter’s almost over and Made in Bondi is set to raise temperatures, with the real lives and loves of Sydney’s young socialites living in the affluent Eastern Suburbs setting screens ablaze from 9.00pm Tuesday, 20 August on Channel 7 and 7plus.

In episode one, jewellery designer and Eastern Suburbs princess Emma is gearing up for her latest product launch with her brand, Emma Pills, and everyone is invited to her opulent harbour-side mansion.

Influencer Lachy is there with his friends, Harley and drop-dead gorgeous model Isabella.

Emma’s go-to Sydney stylist Paul and his ultra-fabulous friend, PR agent Billy, are there too.

Besties since childhood, Molly and Pippa are at Emma’s party waiting for Molly’s new model boyfriend, Lawson, to arrive.

Flanked by his wingman and restaurant heir, Charlie, Lawson wastes no time in planting a steamy kiss on Molly. It’s been three months since they last laid eyes on each other, and a pulsating chemistry is rekindled. But Lawson’s long-time ex, content creator Bella, is also there with her BFF Kayla, who clock the new couple and find it all a bit too much to take.

As a rumour swirls that Lawson is only “playing” with Molly, prompting tense conversations for the newly minted couple, will new romance survive Sydney’s summer?

To me, this should have been a 7+ exclusive with a later airdate on 7Flix / 7Bravo with maybe later encores on the main channel - the audience for this would be much younger.

This type of show doesn’t say Seven at all, it doesn’t fit their brand and I don’t think it’s what their audience want to see either.

If anything, the only real positive is that it’s new post 8:30/9:00pm content for them which outside of sport / Front Bar etc they don’t have a lot of.

This is very reminiscent of The Shire - both in concept and production.

Both shows even have the same “Real People” tag line.

I know that this was panned at the time (not least because of some questionable decisions at the time), but that promo somewhat stacks up now even 12 years on.

Considering we have already heard that a lot of these people are not ftom Bondi and parts of the series were filmed in Brighton-Le-Sands then it could end up being very much like The Shire which also failed on focusing on only Shire residents.

To be honest, i am not a fan of these type of shows. Wrong demographic.

But to read negative reports of this show already is a negative for Seven. Apart from Farmer Wants A Wife, nothing is going to beat Married at First Sight on Nine. Similar demographics?

And filming some scenes at Brighton Le Sands is not the same as surrounding Bondi beaches.

Should get some nice shots of the planes arriving at Mascot.

Extreme flashbacks to The Shire from 12 years ago and not in a good way. This show is probably worse. It is so fake and contrived; instead of portraying reality and how the other half lives it comes across closer to a high school play. The cast seem like they are reading lines as no-one speaks and reacts that way in real life.

On location set piece are inauthentic - a gym with no other patrons, a night club with no background noise - with everything carefully posed and the cast shown off as if for an Instagram video. But despite all that, if might have been passable if it weren’t so boring with the “life of endless drama” failing nowhere to be seen. Who knows if Seven’s demographic will find it interesting but I won’t be surprised if it gets bumped to late and is burnt off.

Ratings for this were terrible, as expected. Might be getting bumped sooner than expected.

It’s like Seven don’t even know their own audience? Like I said, if it was cheap enough as a co-commission, a 7plus exclusive would’ve been a safer bet with an airing on bravo/flix.
