I thought the reach number of 956,000 vs the average of 206,000 was telling.
Very much so, the show couldn’t have had a better lead-in.
There is already 5 episodes of this on 7plus.
A whole season drop perhaps?
I know where they should drop it. Then flush.
Good pickup, it’s listed as an exclusive.
Maybe a change in strategy after seeing last nights ratings?
It’s not any worse than a lot of other reality shows of this genre. I had a quick look as I watch Made in Chelsea (don’t tell anyone) and it’s a 100% copy of that show, just not as good and very contrived. It’s not a 7 main channel show and should be on 7Bravo. The 7 rusted on-ers must have been shocked.
I’m not a fan of this genre in general. But what is Seven thinking of airing this on the main channel? Ratings showed that it was a bomb! More suited to 7Bravo, with other similar programs already there.
In this case, it isn’t just the genre of the show, it is the poor quality of the show itself. Seven got sold a dud. Don’t know how Channel 4 signed off on the production.
You summed it up perfectly. The whole thing just felt extremely fake and dated. It was more like those earlier 2000s style reality shows but one of the worst versions of them.
The show also feels extremely out of place on Seven. I feel like it needed to go the direction of Love Island and be on a multi-channel but then have a main channel push for online viewing. That is where it might have got an audience (if it was actually any good). Or could that have been the ultimate plan all along with more episodes now on 7plus?
The audience that watches this show is not watching Channel 7
Perhaps Seven should send Stranded on Honeymoon Island Australia straight to 7Plus.
“People are tired of nastiness” yet the promo shows various people yelling at each other.
And a woman throwing a drink at some guy, hardly shows warmth & love?
Delusional.
One of the funniest segments I can remember seeing on Gogglebox watching Made In Bondi tonight - must see. “Are they acting?” “Did he forget his lines?”
It is also utterly boring. After reportedly failing to snag any of the actual socialites who live in Bondi, the producers resorted to casting a thrown-together group of twenty- and thirtysomethings from around the country who have seemingly nothing to say to one another. (“What’s your go-to food?” “Italian,” is some representative dialogue.) It doesn’t matter that only one of the cast is actually from Bondi but it does matter that, in the three episodes I have seen, it has no humour, no real drama and nothing going on upstairs. (Another example of the chat level in this show: “If you could be a goldfish or an eel, which would you choose?”)
Made in Bondi feels as though it was built for that readymade global audience – instead of filming in actual Bondi, the show was shot a 30-minute drive away, on the far less glamorous shores of Brighton-Le-Sands.
I don’t get why the networks do this kind of stuff, wasting money on crap that could go towards something of value (I know they are trying to attract younger demos, but really they are shooting themselves in the foot).
