Season 3 of Love Island Australia premieres on Nine on Monday, October 4, according to an interview with host Sophie Monk in the Stellar magazine (the interview is behind paywall at the entertainment section of Daily Telegraph website).

EDIT: Nine confirmed the new season would premiere on October 4 at 9pm, after The Block’s reveal episode.

Yes because the NRL GF is the night beforehand meaning the Room Reveals will be Monday. Great tactic launching then, however, only 3 nights a week with a silly chat show on Thursday’s? That’s not enough. It needs to be on every night. That’s how the format works. Same goes with Big Brother.

Love Island Australia is set to sizzle

PREMIERE MONDAY, OCTOBER 4, AT 9.00PM ON CHANNEL 9 AND 9NOW

Prepare to dive in and fall in love with the nation’s sexiest singles when Love Island Australia premieres Monday, October 4, at 9.00pm after The Block on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Aussie sweetheart Sophie Monk returns to host and play Cupid alongside new addition, comedian Stephen Mullan, the narrator, in the world-renowned reality TV show which promises to deliver another picture-perfect backdrop full of romantic twists and turns.

Sophie Monk said: “I can’t wait for everyone to meet the new cast on Love Island – they are sassy, fun, and looking for love, and what better place to find it than the luxurious Love Island villa.”

The Islanders are all hoping to find romance, passion and “the one” where they couple up, stay together, and win over the hearts of the public, all while surviving the temptations of beautiful bombshells entering the villa.

At the end of the series, the winning couple as voted by the public are handed a pot of money to start their new lives together, but there’s a very big catch: one partner gets the whole say in either sharing the money 50/50 – or walking away with the lot, like a love rat. Were they after love or the money all along?

Can’t get enough of Love Island Australia? Each Thursday night join Abbie Chatfield and a bunch of celebrity superfans as they dissect all the highs and lows from the show on Afterparty.

Love Island Australia is produced by ITV Studios Australia for Channel 9 with assistance from Screen NSW’s Made In NSW Fund.

Construction on the set – a mansion in the hinterland area of Federal – has been underway for around three weeks, with filming due to start on the weekend before the first near-live episode airs on October 4.

(Byron Shire Mayor Michael Lyon) was in discussion with ITV Studios and Nine throughout Wednesday, and had spoken with many, but not all, of his fellow councillors, as he weighed up options.

“I’ve made my position clear to the other councillors,” he said. “I’m not in favour of (Love Island) any more. The general consensus is that we’re going to try to rescind the approval.”

Hope Nine have a back-up for the show if the permission to film is rescinded.

It’s not as big of a worry as it might seem. This was to air at 9pm so it’s far easier to fill those gaps than if it was to air at 7:30pm.

If Byron Bay says no to Love Island, then you’d think they’d have no choice but to film it in/around Sydney…if this season even still goes ahead.

That said, it’d still be a major loss for Nine (my personal POV, not so much) after the heavy amount of promotion and pre-launch publicity they’ve already been doing for Love Island.

Ch9 assure us the show will not be effected. Byron Council threatens to pull the plug on LOVE ISLAND AUSTRALIA - TV Blackbox

The new season will be filmed at Amileka, a 10 ha estate at Federal outside Byron Bay.

Premiere delayed by one week.

Love Island Australia Season 3 is set to premiere on Monday, October 11 at 8.45pm, following The Block on Nine and 9Now.

In response to recent developments, production will be going ahead for our audiences.

9Network’s Program Director, Hamish Turner, said: “We acknowledge the Mayor’s comments and although disappointing we are planning to ensure Love Island production, which has not commenced filming, is completed within existing regulations to ensure the show is ready for our audiences. All productions are conducted in accordance with the strictest health and safety regulations, testing, and isolation.”

Interesting that it’s been delayed by a week, but still planning to finish filming by restrictions imposed of them. So it will be a shorter run this season?

It will definitely be a shorter run because ITV Studios will have to complete filming within 30 days.

Not necessarily. It’s airing Monday - Thursday so technically they have 4 nights and 3 full days that it won’t be airing so potentially footage from that time can be spread out the next week and so forth making the show go longer. It would just mean no audience participation.

Yeah they may have to change how they edit and produce the show, they could possibly pre-record the whole series and then omit the live portion - as David said something like that would mean audiences won’t be involved but it wouldn’t be the end of the world for the series given the circumstances.

It would be the better alternative. If they can only film for 30 days and the show is scheduled to air only 4 days a week that is only 16 episodes this season. No time to invest in the contestants and their relationships.

Edit: The Bachelor and The Bachelorette air only 16 and 14 episodes so I guess it could work?

The whole point of this show is audience interaction. I could see ratings/streaming numbers completely falling away if its all pre recorded.

Pretty sure that the previous seasons aired 5 nights a week?

Yeah. Sunday to Thursday. This year it’s scheduled Monday to Thursday.

Or it could end up being a surprising success like Big Brother is on 7 pre recorded (even though I detest the pre record)
