Is it confirmed? I can’t seem to find any info on the host anywhere
It is probably just assumed. They didn’t go and say Scott cam would be host of the block or Hamish Lego masters right?
They actually did - although the press release was talking about this season’s of The Block they mentioned that Scott Cam was back as host celebrating 20 years on Aussie TV. For LegoMasters they announced that Hamish Blake and ‘Brickman’ were back for next season too
Ok well maybe you are on to something or maybe they are just working on the finer details with Sophie. I could see why they wouldnt have her if she is also doing beauty and the geek
You have good points there - Nine knows that Love Island’s a hit with the younger demos so they’d want to focus on ensuring Beauty rates well. There could potentially be viewer exhaustion if she hosts both shows (which target a similar audience in the ‘reality romance’ genre).
Alternatively, it might be another Sonia Kruger situation where they don’t find another suitable host, and Sophie does end up hosting Love Island as well.
Well, Osher hosts four reality shows, so two wouldn’t be a surprise.
Exactly - Osher hosts 2 big reality franchises on 10, and Sonia also hosts The Voice and Big Brother on Seven.
My guess is they’re still finalising Sophie’s contract or working out if there’s any scheduling clashes- it makes sense to not announce anything until they’re certain she can do both.
If it’s not Sophie, I reckon they’ll get Tahlia Damir (S1 winner) to host it.
Is that Tayla Damir? Can she read an auto cue?
Ooo that would be interesting - I swear she was in every Sydney ‘social event’ over the past 2-3 years. She seemed to also gain a lot of popularity (aka IG followers) when her season of Love Island aired in the UK recently.
Not sure if Nine would gamble with someone who has no experience in hosting though.
They might get Renee or Darren
That could be a possibility - now that Sonia’s hosting The Voice they’re both free and jobless. Also, Darren’s a new addition to Doctor Doctor next season so he’s still part of the Channel 9 family.
Not sure if Renee would do it - let’s face it, Love Island’s a bit of a ‘trashy’ show and it’s a far cry from what she used to do, interviewing A-listers in Hollywood.
One thing I noticed is neither one of them made a ‘lasting impression’ when they hosted The Voice. I remember a few tweets by TV writers saying Darren didn’t inject any ‘spark’ to the show and Renee was brutally underused (she seemed more of a clotheshorse, though you could say a similar thing about Sophie Monk).
In saying that, I still think Sophie should host both shows - at least her dry humour was entertaining.
I would pay to see Lee Lin Chin host this where she would express her disdain on-air and walk out halfway through the first episode in disgust over the bimbos and trashiness of the show
Yes!!! Hahaha imagine that’d be comedy and entertainment value!!
Putting jokes aside, does anyone think that this show might be destined for a 7.30 slot next year?
From what I’ve read it seems Nine are keen to have Love Island fill the void left by The Voice but at 8.30 that’s going to be a bit difficult to achieve so could they possibly move this to 7.30 (and give it an M rating instead) to fill that gap?
I’ve seen that article floating around but I reckon it’s all just speculation. I just feel like Love Island is too ‘raunchy’ of a show to air at 7:30 (unless they do it on 9Now). Then again, The Bachelor franchise airs at primetime and their shows aren’t exactly tame (especially Paradise).
I think The Voice used to air for 7-9 weeks, so having Celebrity Apprentice + Beauty and the Geek would probably already cover that gap. Not to mention they’ve also got Celebrity IOU and Parent Jury on their slate.
It’s almost the type of show that doesn’t even require a host
Sophie was barely on it anyway. She often only came in once a week at eliminations. They could easily get away with no host.
Yes, with the format, there is only the requirement for someone to go into the villa once or perhaps twice a week. The more significant role is the narrator.
