Love Island Australia

New location is likely.

I have heard it may be filmed in Mornington.

The big twist will be when it is revealed to contestants that it is not an island, it is a peninsula.

Couldn’t they just be moving into the new villa that they are using in the UK version? One of the most appealing factors for me was watching them in a European summer when it was winter over here.

If it moves to this side of the world you would think that it would have to air at the very start of the year (Feb/March) to utilise the better weather.

Which is not likely if the image shown during the Upfronts is right.

What was the image?

I’m guessing the order of the shows shown in this:

So they will only be doing one series of The Block next year?

Like they have the last 3-4 years?

They’ve had 2 seasons of The Block in one year before

2013-2015 but since then decided to keep it at one season per year.

That’s interesting about the order. I assumed it would be similar time of the year just in a later slot. Maybe they think that this time of the year when there isn’t much else on it might do well in primetime. I still think it’s best shot at doing well enough is to be at 9pm off the back of another reality format.

This is the third year there has only been one season of The Block…

News Corp reports today season 2 may be filmed in Fiji due to budget cuts.

Why would you cut the budget of a show that you have moved from a multi channel to the main channel? Also they already have a villa ready to film in in Spain while they would have to start from scratch in Fiji. How is that cutting the budget?

I guess the airfares to Fiji are much cheaper than those to Spain.

I think airfares & logistics are reasons as to why the show is moving but I also believe that a bigger season is that the Fijian Government offers huge incentives for shows filmed there. I read an article (that I’ll try to find) that states that US Survivor gets subsidised almost half of their production costs (which is an assumed big reason as to why they have remained in Fiji for 6 - soon to be 8 - seasons) and other Fiji filmed show (Aus Survivor, Bachelor in Paradise) have a special thanks to the Fijian government in their credits, which to me assumes a similar situation for those shows.

Gosh do we really need another show in Fiji? Boring. I liked the fact that it was in Spain which made it different. Although if it is not airing until the end of the year I guess weather wise Fiji could make more sense.

Did you actually see any of Spain beside the resort?

Yes we saw plenty of it. They would often leave the resort on dates and tasks or challenges. Plus there were great views from the resort as well as it was quite high up.

News Corp reports that Nine’s proposal to film the second season of Love Island in Fiji has been rejected, because the government was apparently concerned by the sleazy tone of the show. The producers are now considering a Queensland location.
