KIIS Network

Given the downward survey trend I’m predicting more of an alignment with KIIS106.5 and KIIS101.1 (ie a younger music shift).

If Mix102.3 wasn’t as strong I’d say they’d change too.

So then Brisbane would have 3 stations sounding the same and targeting the same audience? That would be a disaster.

I still wouldn’t rule out Pure Gold 97.3
As I’ve said before the 5 capital Pure Gold network makes sense to me, including 102.3 and 96FM.

It would take some listeners from 4KQ but IMO not that many. KQ is a much much older playlist than the current Pure Gold stations.

Gold 97.3 would probably decimate 4MMM, rather than hurt 4KQ too much.

Also it’s a nice story to bring back the Gold brand to SEQ after SCA dumped it for MMM on the Gold Coast.

Failing that, Smooth 97.3 - yes please!

I can’t see them replicating KIIS, given 97.3 is owned 50% by Nova Entertainment in partnership with ARN, surely they would not canabilise their audience like that. My money is either on a new Breakfast show, or they will stop with the KIIS simulcasts.

My guess is that Bob will be hanging up his headphones very soon.

Which is not quite a ‘shock announcement’ as this has been expected for some time.

Barry getting the flick from programming would be considering how well he’s shored his defences over the years.

Robin set for shock return to 97.3FM.
Unclear who the breakfast team will be but expect Dye out.

Oh is that all…

I was hoping for a more fundamental change that the station really needs IMO.

Bailey coming back doesn’t really cut it for me. She’s flipped between 97.3 and Triple M and personally I find her less than interesting on air. I’m sure she has her fans.

Agree.

Yes, her fans within the radio bubble feel she makes engaging local radio and being a rare established female talent within Brisbane who gets on with management means that the stations like her.

It also confirms the mistake Duncan made in letting Robin go if they have got her back.

Again very strange for SCA to let her go with the death of her husband, not smart to not have her on some contract. If you don’t have the talent signed, your competitor will.

Mike Van Acker should walk along with Bianca. I don’t find him a useful addition to the on air team in the way Terry Hansen was.

Sign up Luke Bradnam with Robin Bailey and have two strong minded people on breakfast.

Speaking of 97.3. My regular cafe on the south side normally has 97.3 on while I grab my coffee/breakfast. This morning I noticed a lot more music and a great variety of AC/Classic Hits. For a few minutes I got my hopes up they’d launched Smooth 97.3.

However they had just switched to community radio 101FM from Logan!!

Might be a message in there for you ARN.

Sad day, John is a real talent, perhaps Nova Ent have budget to hire him for FiveAA?

ARN have told the Breakfast Show tomorrow is their last day on 97.3 in Brisbane

Co-host Bob Gallagher will remain with the network, and Dye will have a new role in 2020.
Van Acker, however, will depart completely, with ARN thanking him for his talent, passion and professionalism.
The show’s executive producer Liam Renton will also leave.

Bob off to 4KQ one assumes, but where does that leave Bianca?

I’m smiling so much reading this, the departure wasn’t particularly Christian like should we say from the broadcaster’s side more so.
