KIIS Network

Have I missed any announcement?

This morning Smallzy and producers mentioned “Kyle and Jackie” in discussion on air. No mention of them coming back, but given it’s a legal matter, they’re still mentioning their names/brand on air.

I wouldn’t imagine this happening if it was strict instruction that they’ve been terminated.

I think what they’ll argue is that a court case hasn’t been filed, so they could still bring them up.

Not after March 17 I suppose.

Smallzy have done his breakfast stint on KIIS. He will be back to his normal shift from Monday.

Surely we will see a 5pm dump from ARN to the ASX this afternoon.

For what? The window hasn’t elapsed.

Definitely not an announcement of a longer-term replacement of course.

To say they’re back?

ARN executives, so this column hears, have now begun to fret about what bombastic verbal gunslinger Sandilands might do when the Hollywood Western-styled “sunset deadline” lapses on Tuesday, should matters not be resolved before then and it seems unlikely they will.

They could have been calm knowing they’ve saved $100 million from being paid out.

What are they stressing about? The duo isn’t even contracted to ARN anymore. And all that advertiser backlog from the MFWs suddenly get released.

Until the court case starts, no worries. I’m sure they have answers ready to go anyway.

Agree.

Kyle slagged off SCA as well after he departed from there. Nobody cares.

Of course there’s the “loyal listenership” side to the story.

Don’t worry. They will pop up somewhere. Just not on KIIS in the morning and maybe in three to six months from now.

Which no one seems to be talking about. If Kyle and Jackie O go, all the ratings go with them.

It depends, honestly. Are the listeners who specifically tune out or choose to not listen to KIIS going to flock back in because they’re gone?

That’s what S2 is going to provide. It isn’t really a reflection of the replacement option, whatever it may be.

Then all those advertisers (how many of them boycott the show when it was on?)

Adding those up and ARN stands to benefit from them gone. And they won’t let that go by inviting them back. That’d be silly.

Ok. So I’m assuming we are waiting for an announcement from ARN at some point this afternoon or over the weekend as to who’ll be in the chair on Monday morning for KIIS Syd/Melb.

My money is on Amy Gerard & Chris Page, or even Lowie.

Whoever it is, I’m assuming they’ll be in place until the dust completely settles and/or K&J return.

Also it’s common practice for CHR stations to very subtly raise the tempo / speed of the music feed. Bit of a subconscious point of difference trick and aids the ‘wall of sound’ format that KIIS uses.

As mentioned it will also occur in Zetta to stretch or shrink parts of the log in similar fashion for timing.

However in Australia most networks seem to have forgotten what a clock is and don’t care if TOTH hits 10-15 mins late sometimes.

Have noticed KIIS has been running way ahead of schedule most days since KJO ended.. even with announcers padding and Smallzy doing longer breaks during his slots

K&J still ALL over the ARN Media corporate website… To the point where I’m not sure what else they’d put there in their absence?

There won’t be one. Tune in on Monday to find out.

The now-highest paid presenters in the network/company, whoever they are.

Maybe they can bring Thy across from Cada for a bit.

Don’t encourage them.
