This morning Smallzy and producers mentioned “Kyle and Jackie” in discussion on air. No mention of them coming back, but given it’s a legal matter, they’re still mentioning their names/brand on air.
I wouldn’t imagine this happening if it was strict instruction that they’ve been terminated.
ARN executives, so this column hears, have now begun to fret about what bombastic verbal gunslinger Sandilands might do when the Hollywood Western-styled “sunset deadline” lapses on Tuesday, should matters not be resolved before then and it seems unlikely they will.
They could have been calm knowing they’ve saved $100 million from being paid out.
What are they stressing about? The duo isn’t even contracted to ARN anymore. And all that advertiser backlog from the MFWs suddenly get released.
Until the court case starts, no worries. I’m sure they have answers ready to go anyway.
Ok. So I’m assuming we are waiting for an announcement from ARN at some point this afternoon or over the weekend as to who’ll be in the chair on Monday morning for KIIS Syd/Melb.
My money is on Amy Gerard & Chris Page, or even Lowie.
Whoever it is, I’m assuming they’ll be in place until the dust completely settles and/or K&J return.
Also it’s common practice for CHR stations to very subtly raise the tempo / speed of the music feed. Bit of a subconscious point of difference trick and aids the ‘wall of sound’ format that KIIS uses.
As mentioned it will also occur in Zetta to stretch or shrink parts of the log in similar fashion for timing.
However in Australia most networks seem to have forgotten what a clock is and don’t care if TOTH hits 10-15 mins late sometimes.
Have noticed KIIS has been running way ahead of schedule most days since KJO ended.. even with announcers padding and Smallzy doing longer breaks during his slots
