KIIS Network

Haha it does. I remember when Susie O’Neill first joined Nova 106.9 breakfast the show was called Ash, Kip & Luttsy with Susie O’Neill, so it’s not unprecedented to name it like that.

I’m now hoping K&J’s contract is also based on KPI’s and performance.

Given Melbourne’s results, it is a smart move for ARN to delay any expansion.

Interesting. Perhaps they’ll put K&J into Adelaide first and surprise everyone. It might be easier without the daylight saving time change. At least Adelaide time remains in step with NSW and VIC.

I agree. I’m sure they said early on that the contract did include significant performance measures.

Adelaide will still be 30 minutes behind - unless they run the whole schedule live, SA listener’s won’t be able to call into the show to participate in games, etc - not like we will be listening anyway

I would think they would run the whole thing live even with the 30 min difference. But let’s hope it never happens.

Well if they are getting a new host for Brisbane, surely they will get a new host for Adelaide, given Mix 102.3 is usually one of the top rating stations.

I wonder if ex-SAFM’s Bec will get the gig.

Adelaide has a great record of simply playing musical chairs at this time of year.

Hopefully yes. Although Brisbane is about twice Adelaide’s size these days so in terms of revenue would be a lot higher.

Fair enough - would imagine they would drop the day presenter first though

Wouldn’t surprise me - there always seems to be a few names which keep moving around stations (i.e. Ali Clarke from Triple M to ABC to Mix, Jody Oddy from Mix to Nova)

I’d throw a name in the hat, Molly Rose who was the afternoon announcer and anchor of the Rush Hour on Triple M who got made redundant. She used to do breakfast on Power FM which is an ARN regional station.

The other option I’d be surprised if ARN hadn’t thought about, would be to roll out K&J on 102.9 on the Gold Coast. Kyle seems desperate to broadcast into ā€œQueenslandā€. I wouldn’t put it past the ā€œbrainsā€ at ARN to rebrand Hot Tomato to KIIS102.9. It’s potentially less risky than 97.3 in the short term and gives them that sought after Queensland footprint. ARN have previously stated that 102.9 has metro level revenue and the GC is a significant city in its own right. Not that I want it to happen, I hope K&J expand no further at all.

I doubt Hot Tomato would ever rebrand to KIIS - especially given the lacklustre ratings Hit, now back to SeaFM and Triple M now Triple M Gold have had.

Just put them on a DAB+ station - non stop K & J.

Didn’t they have one a couple of years ago?

i think it was just on iHeart.

We’ll see, but I wouldn’t be so sure. If there’s one regional station that I think might take on the KIIS brand it would be 102.9. For all intents and purposes the GC market is a metro market. Huge commuter traffic between Brisbane and GC too.

Do a radio version of Today All Day with same day replays (have lunch with K and J) , flashbacks, greatest ā€˜hits’ padded out with contemporary music.

A 24/7 iHeart station, launched sometime in December 2021 and perhaps went off-air in early 2022.

That would be suicidal, Hot Tomato have the #1 Breakfast show and pretty much #1 in all shifts. Why do that as you would be handing the crown to Triple M Gold.

IMO It looks like the national strategy has been put on hold with ARN’s strategy now putting everything into lifting the Melbourne ratings. If Kyle was calling all the shots they would be going into Brisbane and Adelaide in 2025 and two breakfast teams out of a job. This is not happening with ARN expanding the Brisbane Breakfast team. I hope Mitch was not the fall guy for the new appointment to the Brisbane Breakfast show?
