I think K&J did drive for a bit at 2Day, and were drafted into breakfast when Judith Lucy’s show tanked.
K&J were always aiming for breakfast back in the day so I can’t see them moving.
And to think, six months ago ARN was buying out SCA…
KIIS in the evenings next year will be more music.
He’s been with the company for so long and thus from what I understand is on an ongoing, employee contract rather than year to year. The commenter before said they’d just replace his show - they can but it would be very unlikely
“Meetings were planned, memos were prepared”…should be on a tshirt.
The blame for what is happening to arn and it’s people lies squarely at the feet of Hamish and Ciaran whose hubris and outright unfounded confidence is being paid off with people’s livelihoods.
Merry Christmas.
rumours around that they still want to
From Mitch Churi.
plus this arvo he made his first appearance on KIIS since the news broke yesterday
I don’t doubt that ever went away… I wonder if the purging of talent has something to do with a desirable/potential buyout of SCA? eg. getting the best from Hit and moving them to KIIS.
Putting the cart before the horse I know, but stranger things…
So hd needed timd off to process the news about his axing?
SCA investors and board would be mad to entertain these morons.
Anything can be sold if … the Price… is Right!
Does Mix102.3 take Mitch’s show?
Nope, Mix 102.3 broadcast Christian O’Connell.
In a heartbreaking statement during the latest episode of The Pick Up, Churi confirmed it was not his decision to leave as his co-stars teared up.
“So late last week, I was informed by the powers that be,” said Churi. “They have identified my roles and roles that won’t be returning in 2025. So I just want to say that it wasn’t my decision. It wasn’t my call. I really wanted to stay on this show with the two of you. And I wanted to stay on the night show and I wanted to stay at ARN and KIIS. And that I love working in radio.”
As Britt’s eyes filled with tears, she replied: “It’s a decision that’s been made that’s out of our control. As you know, Laura and I, we have to continue on doing the show without you and we are utterly devastated.”
Mitch also made a similar announcement on his own show last night.
This was a great article. They also used my boiling the frog analogy! I also loved the quote that the Sydney audience is so “lubed up after 20 years of content” that nothing offends them. But the Melbourne audience is like walking in late to a party. Gold.
It’s not as simple as that, Mitch.
This is a perfect example of putting profits before talent. Sorry to give ARN ideas, but I reckon next they’ll just axe The Pick Up altogether, show Britt and Laura the door, and just broadcast The Kyle & Jackie O Hour Of Power.
They’re axing talented people here in order to pay K&J. Kyle did say he wanted his show to go national, so I reckon this is just the start. How sad has this network become.
If you want to broadcast K&J at school pick-up time in order to save money, then go ahead, but this is really disappointing.
Why do you keep making blanket statements like this as if it’s going to happen?
You’ve been told that’s not on the cards so “what’s disappointing”?
