I’m sure she was. But it’s her choice to make it public, for her show. Sorry if that sounds cynical, but it’s all for ratings. If she was indeed worried about ridicule from Kyle then she could have shared it in another way, if she wanted to. This is just a radio show that feeds on publicity. Yes I have empathy for her personally, but she at least has the means to get the help she needs. And has a choice not to broadcast it - for personal gain IMO.

Any type of addiction is difficult for those involved. And listening to Jackie explain her ordeal was sad. And is very brave to go public.
She does have an autobiographical book coming out soon (if it hasn’t come out already), so it might be a just for publicity for the book and radio? Or could just be for her personally to show awareness. Or both.

Kyle is vile. He never gets called out for his bad behaviour. There’s a culture of bullying and harassment in that workplace and they all just put up with it because they know where their bread is buttered.

At what point though would you rather just leave and go to another station. Sure it’s maybe less money but I’d rather a pay decrease than put up with this day in and day out.
You should hear the way he speaks to and mimics Lachie the Geek. It’s disgusting. Literal bullying and nothing else. It’s horrible.

It’s widely known in the industry and behind the scenes that there is a high turnover of producers and staff on that show. Many don’t last long at all and many are working at other radio stations and in the media.

how is one not comatose from that. Many years ago I had a relative once take 2 Panadeine Forte, he literally fainted/passed out and would have been a bigger/taller build than she. How is Jacki O, not a large woman, functioning with 24 of those a day + Stillnox + alcohol.

I saw this exchange on Instagram. A team member is trying to make a contribution to the show about how he asked Queen Camilla a question on the royal tour and all Kyle does is abuse him.
Kyle: I thought she said “Go away cock breath!”. “Can anyone hear cock breath?”
How is that filth allowed to be aired, let alone that is blatant abuse of an employee?

Enough people “listen” to the show, as its consistently rating well (in Sydney anyway). I listen to their show some mornings, as some of their content is good. But as soon as their “filth” comes on with the sexual talk, i change channels and return 20 minutes later when its usually finished.
Its a very hit and miss type of show.

Seems amazing. Though you can develop tolerance to both the drugs mentioned. So if starting at a moderate dose, then after some time that dose doesn’t have the desired effect due to tolerance so more are taken to get the same effect and eventually you are over the daily limit by 3 times in this case. I think there would be other side effects as well like constipation.

i know someone that was an alcoholic. the drinking they would do would destroy me - it started with a drink after work and ended at 2 bottles of barcadi a day. they built a tolerance

24 Panadeine Fortes + 14 Stillnox plus alcohol is quite a tolerance! Amazing that any body can even physically function with that much swirling around inside.

Jackie is a smart woman. I am not sure how she thought her pain or recovery is going to be enhanced from announcing this to her work colleagues and the rest of Sydney and Melbourne. I doubt her psychologist in rehab advised her to discuss this on air.
It may be true but it’s also publicity for the potential Melbourne audience.
Today’s show raises two questions. Who was prescribing the medication? Is there any medication that Kyle could take to make him more empathetic and relatable to Melbournians? He needs it work harder to not come across as a dick. This should be his focus for the next six months.

I get the feeling Jackie’s break was meant to be an in-depth revealing opening up of her personal life - similar to the killer content she’s doing with her Besties podcast. But it was hijacked by Kyle’s jokes & comments.
It could’ve easily been executed differently.
