KIIS Network

If 6iX converts to FM and ARN buys them and sells 50 percent of Nova 93.7, it could cause problems for 96FM being Pure Gold and having 6IX. 96 may have to swing more towards KIIS at that stage.

Perhaps. But if that happened they might opt to leave 96 as Pure Gold and just launch a brand new KIIS station on the 6iX frequency. KIIS 913 or KIIS 1049. Anyway it’s a bit academic as I doubt 6iX is for sale.

I still reckon it is easier to push 96 towards KIIS than 6iX. 96 could have a MIX102.3/97.3 style format with a real music lean. 80s to 2000s. 6iX could have 60s to 80s. Would be too dramatic for 6iX to go from Classic Hits to a full KIIS CHR.

IX might not be for sale now, but if they go FM the big players (ARN or Nova Entertaiment) will come with the chequebook.

Listening to 96 lately, they have definitely softened since Triple M started. I don’t mind the format.

Maybe, but I highly doubt 6iX on FM would ever retain a 60s to 80s format. It would be the only commercial FM station in the capital cities with such a format. I agree it would be nice, but I just don’t think it’s realistic in 2021 unfortunately. About as old as FM will go these days is the current WS/Gold format sadly, at least if ARN owns it anyway. You’d be better off if 6iX-FM stayed with it’s current ownership as that would have a better chance of keeping something like its current format.

I also think moving 96 towards a KIIS format would trash its rock heritage once and for all and listeners would no doubt move elsewhere - more likely Triple M than 6iX-FM.

The 6iX listeners have to move anyway (from AM to FM) but the 96FM listeners might be best left as is.

Well, tonight’s Media Watch made a mention about it in the wake of Kyle & Jackie O beating 2GB for the first time in the breakfast radio ratings last week.

About as old as FM will go these days is also Triple M which regularly plays some classic rock tracks from the seventies eg. Stairway to Heaven.

If what I’m hearing is correct, I haven’t read anyone correctly guess who Jase’s new co-host will be - no matter how confident the Radio Today comment section is.

Trevor Marmalade confirmed then

Totally off the mark.

Can confirm it’s a Loz, Michelle and Des revival.

Its an interesting choice, I would assume there has been some significant testing for chemistry. I am hoping it pays off!

If it’s rikki Lee (and I don’t think I’ve seen her name written anywhere) they have sounded great together when she’s filled in previously.

And it would make the post of Jase needing a new “singing partner” make a lot of sense.

Ricki-Lee would be fab. She has radio experience and her hosting gig on AGT has been delayed - twice!

But she’s in lock down in Sydney, surely couldn’t be her?

She could broadcast from home - or go into ARN studios in Sydney?

It’s not.

I’ll have to wait until tomorrow…

They’re dragging it out playing “Guess Who” with potential candidates. Will be over the next few shows. So we won’t know until next week.

Deleted my earlier post as who I’ve been told is replacing PJ isn’t actually on this Guess Who board…

Seems to me that ARN has still not found the new replacement for KIIS breakfast co-host so it is dragging it out until next week.

If ARN can’t find a female co-host for Jase, a couple of unlikely suggestions:

  • pair him with a male
  • Jase goes solo
