Kayo Sports

Because they can. They shouldn’t but they can. They’re a business.

Maybe some of the on-air talent can take pay cuts.

Totally agree with you on That

That pissess me off. Kayo not so much because i am only paying $1.00 for this month :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s a death spiral - they have less content, so people cancel, so they have to increase prices to maintain revenue, and repeat.

The other factor is that Kayo for years was cheaper than Foxtel’s sports package, it’s reverting closer to what its market value probably always was.

I don’t understand why they aren’t heavily pushing lock in contracts or 12 month package deals to offset these losses, given their weak summer offering.

Has Kayo dropped the channels in their app? I can’t find it on my Chromecast

if they imposed 12 monbth contracts for Kayo, it would push more people to piracy. for me, it doesn’t matter as i love cricket and would subscribe just for that, but if you only subscribe for the AFL forcing people to pay for 5 months of kayo is not a good look,.

I don’t mean enforced contracts - but given they keep bumping up the price, use a reduced price 12 month contract as a means of smoothing out revenue - someone who might pay $35 a month for 6 months of the footy might pay $300 a year and think they got a good deal.

The footy club membership deals with 12 month kayo work well for this - people think they are getting a deal as it’s cheaper than the monthly cost, but certainly not good value compared to cancelling in September.

Kayo Sports Launches New Mobile and Tablet App the Ultimate Destination for Sports Fans

7 6

Kayo Sports, Australia’s leading sports streaming platform, has today started the release of a new mobile and tablet app, unveiling a suite of new features designed to elevate the way fans experience their favourite sports.

In the first significant upgrade to the mobile and tablet app since its launch in 2018, Kayo Sports has reimagined how fans connect with the sports they love by introducing integrated features that make it easier than ever to stay connected to the action.

The refreshed app experience will now include:

  • Introducing the Moments Player – A fresh way to catch up on the action. The new Moments Player offers a scrollable feed of highlights, making it easy to relive key plays and stay updated at your own pace.

  • Stories That Bring You Closer to the Game – Stay in the loop with dynamic, bite-sized stories capturing the energy and excitement of live sports. Perfect for quick updates between plays or on the go.

  • A New Home for Live Action – The reimagined homepage places fans at the centre of the excitement. With hero banners and intuitive call-to-action buttons, it’s never been easier to jump into the action and stay there.

  • Enhanced Favourites - Fans preferred content now takes centre stage. The app will prompt users to add favourites to improve their personalised recommendations.

  • Smarter Navigation, Seamless Streaming – Find exactly what you’re looking for with enhanced search capabilities and streamlined page layouts. Less time searching, more time watching.

Foxtel Group’s Executive Director of Product - Streaming Advertising, Tom Blaxland, said: “Our mission has always been to deliver the ultimate sports viewing experience and we know sport on mobile is very different to TV so these new features are a direct reflection of that.

“With features like the Moments Player and Stories, users can immerse themselves in highlights, updates, and bite-sized content that keeps them connected to the action anytime, anywhere. Everything is conveniently housed in one place, eliminating the need to jump between apps or websites to catch up on games, explore highlights, or stay updated.

“We know live sport is just one part of the viewing experience, with fans also eager to consume stats, analysis, highlights, recaps and key moments. This is not just an app update, but a complete reimagining of how fans connect with the sports and shows they love.”

The new app will be released to customers gradually over the next month and will be available on iOS and Android tablets and smartphones.

TIM TSZYU TO FACE SEBASTIAN FUNDORA IN HIGH-STAKES REMATCH ON KAYO SPORTS

Australian boxing star Tim Tszyu is ready to settle the score against American Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora in a World Title revenge rematch this Sunday live on Main Event, available on Kayo Sports.

The pair will go head-to-head in Las Vegas as the co-main event alongside boxing legend Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao, who returns to the ring at age 46 to challenge WBC Welterweight Champion Mario “El Azteca” Barrios.

Pacquiao’s comeback fight marks his first professional bout since 2021, as he aims to make history by becoming the oldest welterweight world champion.

Tszyu will step back into the ring after suffering the first loss of his career against Fundora in March last year. On that occasion, an elbow to the head saw Tszyu endure a large cut and blood in his eyes for the entire fight.

To help bring the fight to life for Australian fans, Kayo Sports will have AFL great Jonathan Brown, NRL legends Willie Mason and Denan Kemp as well as Main Event expert Ben Damon on the ground in Las Vegas across fight week to promote the event.

Additional Main Event coverage includes:

  • Thursday, 6:00am AEST – Press Conference featuring Manny Pacquiao and Mario Barrios
  • Thursday 9:00am AEST – Media Workouts featuring All Fighters on the Card
  • Friday 4:00am AEST – Undercard Press Conference featuring Tim Tszyu and Sebastian Fundora
  • Saturday 6:00am AEST – Official Weigh-In

Coverage on Fight Day begins with the Prelims on Fox Sports at 7:30am and the PPV on Main Event at 10am.

There’s no shortage of action on Main Event this week with Oleksandr Usyk facing Daniel Dubois in a bid to become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World on Sunday from 4:00am.

Meanwhile, UFC 318 will see Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier’s final fight in the octagon against Max Holloway for the BMF Championship also on Sunday from 12:00pm.

Australian fans can order all three Pay-Per-View events via Main Event on Kayo Sports or Foxtel.

Tim Tszyu v Sebastian Fundora II airs live this Sunday from 10.00am AEST on Main Event, available to order via Kayo Sports and Foxtel, with prelims from 7.30am on Fox Sports

Looks like Kayo have added a Resume option. Noticed it when I left half-way through the afl match last night, came back and it was there. Worked as you’d expect. Only tested it on PC, not sure if it’s on anything else yet.

Update for the mobile app came through this week. I don’t like it.
It no longer matches the Desktop/TV app, you can longer choose your video quality (set to max I assume) AND if you turn on “low data mode” in the options, you can no longer watch “full-length fixture” (i guess that means full matches) when WiFi is unavailable, only short form content. So rip watching matches in SD on Mobile data.
I get where they’re going with it, they think you’re more likely to watch short vertical vids on your phone, but that’s not what I and I think many other used it for.

2025 AFL Season sees record growth on Kayo Sports as fans flock to Fox Footy’s unmatched coverage

25 FOX FOOTY TALENT 3073

AFL audience up 19% year on year

7.37 billion minutes streamed

Seventh consecutive year of growth

The 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership season was the most-watched AFL season ever on Kayo SPORTS.

Audiences on Kayo SPORTS grew by 19% year-on-year, with fans streaming 7.37 billion minutes of footy across the season, up 12% year-on-year. This marks the seventh consecutive year of audience growth on Kayo SPORTS and fourth consecutive year of growth across Foxtel Group platforms including Kayo SPORTS, BINGE, FOXTEL Now and FOXTEL.

The milestone comes in the first year of the AFL’s new rights deal that saw audiences given more choice than ever in how they watch the AFL with Fox Footy on Kayo SPORTS and FOXTEL, offering no ad-breaks during play and, for the first time, every game with bespoke graphics, dedicated commentary and in 4K.

General Manager of Fox Footy, Michael Neill said: “The first year of our historic AFL rights deal has set a new benchmark for AFL broadcasting. Record audiences and four consecutive years of growth show that fans are embracing the way we’re producing footy.

“From every match in 4K Ultra HD and ad-break free during play, to Fox Footy’s all-star commentary team, we’re shaping a new era of AFL broadcasting that connects more Australians to the game, however they choose to watch. And the excitement is only building as we head into this year’s finals.”

Other audience highlights from the season include:

  • Thursday and Friday Night Footy, which featured Fox Footy’s dedicated commentary and graphics for the first time, saw audiences lift 22% and 9% year-on-year
  • The Opening Round match between Sydney Swans and Hawthorn Hawks was the most streamed season opener of all time.
  • Round 21’s Collingwood Magpies versus Brisbane Lions match was the most-streamed AFL match ever.
  • The most watched teams of the season were Collingwood Magpies, Carlton Blues and Hawthorn Hawks, with Collingwood’s powerhouse clashes against the Adelaide Crows, Brisbane Lions and Geelong Cats the most watched games.
  • Gather Round in Adelaide achieved its highest audience since inception in 2023.

While Victoria remains AFL’s heartland, some of the biggest audience lifts across the 2025 season came from Queensland, South Australian and Western Australian clubs and markets.

Following strong performances this season, Adelaide Crows, Brisbane Lions, and Gold Coast Suns all recorded double digit audience growth year-on-year, alongside North Melbourne Kangaroos and Hawthorn Hawks.

AFL CEO Andrew Dillon said: “We’ve seen terrific growth in the game this year, and Kayo’s uplifted numbers across the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership season have played a big part in that. It shows the appetite for footy is stronger than ever, and by reaching more fans through broadcast and digital platforms, we’re continuing to make the footy accessible to more Australians in more ways than ever before.”

The footy action continues with the AFL Finals Series kicking off from Thursday 4 September 2025. Every game of the AFL Finals Series up until the Grand Final will be broadcast LIVE, in 4K and ad-break free during play on Kayo SPORTS and FOXTEL, with dedicated Fox Footy commentary.
