Kayo Sports

Professional wrestling has never been a sport. The old days of World Championship Wrestling on Nine and the Hulk Hogan days of the WWF were entertaining to me when I was much younger. These days I think it is utter garbage.

Most broadcasters agree, with WWE usually scheduled on entertainment channels. Even Nine refuses to place their WWOS logo on the broadcasts. Definitely not a sport :joy: :joy:

That’s because you grew up. Some people don’t.

I’m guessing this wrestling entertainment is cheap content compared to Eurosport. Eurosport content is also niche and potentially not cheap for the small audience it brings in.

Doubt Kayo is paying much (if anything) to add WWE to the service - Fox Sports already airs cutdown versions of Smackdown, Raw & NXT each week after they air on FOX8. As such, all they’re doing is just allowing the Fox Sports versions to be viewable on demand rather than it only be available when it airs on the channel streams

I notice the 1hr WWE shows are no longer airing on 9GO! /9Now so it looks like Kayo has taken over from that

Kayo is down. Not a good sign with all these budget cuts coming.

Yeah, lots of complaints on Twitter. Though it appears to be working for some people.

Fine here; I’ve been watching the NZ vs India T20 without any trouble. Though I always buffer at least 90 seconds.

Kayo will live stream every stage of Herald Sun Tour cycling event this year, after SBS covered the tour for the past couple of years. Kayo’s coverage begins tomorrow (February 5) with stage 1 from Nagambie to Shepparton in northern Victoria. Fox Sports will also broadcast the final stage from Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens live on Sunday afternoon, February 9.

Kayo’s coverage of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup was launched right outside Melbourne’s Southern Cross railway station on Monday by Australian captain Meg Lanning and teammate Beth Mooney. Kayo will stream every match of the tournament live and on demand. In addition, “Kayo Minis” are condensed highlights packages for those who miss the full game and will be available for every Australian match, plus every finals matches. “Key Moments” also allows fans to pinpoint the best moments.

Was that from a press release?

It was from a News Corp interview with the cricketers themselves.

Telstra customers will get $10 off all of Kayo’s streaming plans for 12 months, in a new deal announced yesterday. That means both new and returning Kayo users who are also Telstra customers will have access to over 50 sports via Kayo Basic for $15 per month, and Premium for $25 per month.

KAYO Marketing Campaign

  • ‘NOWHERE IS SAFE FROM FOOTY’ THIS SEASON,

  • WITH KAYO ENSURING FANS WON’T MISS A MINUTE

  • STARRING DION PRESTIA, SAM WALSH (AFL), ALEX GLENN AND LUKE KEARY (NRL), NEW KAYO TVC SHOWS THAT NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE OR WHAT YOU’RE DOING, NOWHERE IS SAFE FROM FOOTY

Be it a supermarket or a bus stop, thanks to Kayo, ‘Nowhere is safe from Footy’ this winter.

Kayo is set to kick off its winter codes marketing campaign on Sunday, 1 March, led by a TVC showcasing that with Kayo, you can watch every game of the 2020 Toyota AFL Premiership Season and 2020 NRL Telstra Premiership Season, anywhere, anytime.[i]

The ‘Nowhere is safe from Footy’ campaign is the first from Kayo’s new creative agency partner, Special Group.

The TVC was based around the idea that you can take the footy anywhere in Australia with Kayo, so you never know when footy will show up. In one version, Richmond superstar Dion Prestia and Carlton’s rising star Sam Walsh show up in a local supermarket, and launch themselves off a pallet of toilet paper, taking a hanger and crashing into a shelf of lettuce.

In the second version, Brisbane Bronco’s second rower Alex Glenn and Roosters Premiership winning five-eighth Luke Keary appear at a bus stop. Keary attempts to side-step Glenn before he’s tackled through the bus stop glass.

The ‘Nowhere is safe from Footy’ campaign also includes a range of radio, press, digital and OOH, including a new Sydney Tram wrap and key placements across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

With a lot of high profile sports being put on hold and canceled i can see a lot of people canceling their subscriptions in the coming weeks and months.

But watching sport on TV might be people’s only option, so that could see subscriptions go up.

But what he means is that there will be next to no live sport, so there will be no need to have a subscription. Same goes for Optus Sport, as all of their competitions have now been suspended, if you are paying for Optus Sport you may cancel given that is no need to be subscribed until April (or further).

But the main Kayo sports like AFL and NRL that many would be signing up for haven’t been cancelled and the thousands who would normally go to see matches will be looking for another way to watch the games.

yes that is another way to look at it i guess it would depend what types of sports you are into.

Maybe instead of refunds the clubs can provide a free Kayo subscription instead with membership sagas?
