Junior MasterChef

Hence the poor ratings. It’s way too sanitised.

The article is about S1 from 2011, some of those practices aren’t being implemented for the new season.

The junior format just doesn’t have as much appeal as a ordinary or all stars season, not to mention the double up of the franchise this year which could be causing some fatigue.

Each to their own. I disagree. Loving the season so far. Great characters and good food.

I really enjoyed the challenge last night.

My only criticism is that I don’t like how it is in the exact same format to what we had in the second half of the last season - with Mystery box, Immunity Challenge and Elimination. I’d like the kids one to be bit more random and have a bit more variety especially given that its a much shorter season. I am otherwise enjoying it but I find I pick certain nights of the week to watch based on that format.

Morgan Hipworth, who runs Bistro Morgan Bakehouse at High Street, Windsor in inner south Melbourne, is the first guest chef of the new season tonight.

I’m sitting here struggling to put into words how crazy it is to announce that I’m appearing as a guest judge on tonight’s episode of @jrmasterchefau. I started off my food career by watching the first series of @masterchefau back when I was 7, fast forward 12 years and here we are. To say it’s an honour is an understatement, it’s simply something I wouldn’t have imagined in my wildest dreams.

I set out the challenge of creating the perfect doughnut topping and filling to the juniors and boy oh boy did they produce the goods, but unfortunately the makers of the 2 least impressive dishes will be going home. Make sure to tune in tonight 7:30pm on @channel10au

Junior MasterChef about to reveal the pressure test challenge.

Ben: “There would probably be an ad break about now.” And there was.

Ben certainly knows a bit about the tricks of a reality show. Sad to see him going home last night along with Ruby.
I think 90 minutes were not enough to re-create such an intricate dessert, even for adults. It should have been at least two hours.

Ben and Ruby going last night are such a huge loss to the show. They were cute and I’m just not as interested in the other contestants so have lost a bit of interest but I think it ends soon anyway. How many episodes are left now?

There are four episodes left from tonight, based on the schedules posted by TVCynic.

Synopsis for the final two episodes:
Sunday 8 November
In this pressure test, contestants must re-create Kirsten Tibballs’ lemon meringue tart. The top three dishes will send their mini-makers into the Grand Finale, the others will be heading home.

Monday 9 November
The Grand Finale will see one exceptional cook crowned Australia’s Junior MasterChef 2020, taking home a huge $25,000 in prize money.

It’s clearly set up for Georgia to win

I think that having an orchestra playing at the MasterChef kitchen was tacky and didn’t add anything to the finale. The 20-piece orchestra played background music (the same pieces of music viewers hear in the TV broadcast) as Filo, Carter and Georgia entered the kitchen, at the start and end of challenge, and during the countdowns.

Georgia was named the winner of season 3 tonight. That means girls have won each of the three seasons so far. Based on judges’ comments, Georgia’s menu was exciting and very tasty, and she made less mistakes than Filo and Carter.
But wow, that trophy was so heavy!

They were trying to make it a fancy dinner with atmosphere. How was that “tacky”?

The orchestra didn’t play when the judges and contestant’s mother were tasting food.

Because that’s the important judging part of the show when you want to hear their comments and critiques. You don’t want that drowned out by music.
