Jeopardy Australia

Could this show actually now be an expensive liability for Nine, given last Saturday’s bad share (pushed to 3rd behind the ABC). Tomorrow morning will be interesting, could make for painful reading if the second outing performs even worse and up against Seven’s AFL including a Perth team on 7mate.

With Lego also underperforming. Unlike years gone by, the game show, Nine News and ACA (like mid-2010s) are becoming a 2024 saviour for Nine, whereas Seven’s is the AFL and now reality and most likely DWTS and Voice.

This doesn’t take half an hour. The issue is Fry adding extra info after questions, and adding an extra round to fluff it out to an hour, as the state of the FTA industry makes 30-minute shows all but a rarity cost wise. It’s a crying shame but alas the era we live in

I appreciate that Nine wanted to try something new in the Saturday slot but it really does baffle my mind that they wouldn’t try to at least counter program against something like The 1% Club and put this on a Thursday night at 7:30.

I think the format itself is strong enough to go up in that slot but they clearly don’t have much faith.

I can’t see 10 doing the same thing with the filmed in the UK, Wheel of Fortune Revival they have optioned with Graham Norton…

So episode 4 of Jeopardy Australia will air on 9Gem tomorrow night in Sydney - all other markets on the main channel.

But episode 5 will only air in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth next week with no plans to screen the episode in Sydney and Brisbane.

The following week - episode 6 (season final) will air in all markets on the main channel.

So just episode 5 not airing in two markets

Surely Sydney and Brisbane can have double episodes on the main channel on May 25 to complete the season, without forcing viewers to go to 9Now to see episode 5. Why not rest A Current Affair for the night?

Because A Current Affair rates pretty well for Nine, and Jeopardy Aus doesn’t.

But surely Nine can air that episodes somewhere in the schedule - even on one of their multis - instead of shoving it to 9Now

But really, who cares?

The people that like it and watch it on broadcast

Jeopardy was dropped from tonight’s schedule in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth replaced by The Summit encores.

Would Nine have done that if not for one off NRL in some markets? As hard to see Summit (given how it’s rating) encores across an evening doing better if not worse than first run Jeopardy. However they’ve done similar a lot over the years.

NRL could actually win tonight for Nine in a rare upset and rescue their week a little, with Seven’s AFL in some markets (the Brisbane v Richmond game at the 'Gabba) an absolute annihilation.

Surprised it will have a second season.

Wow, i am also surprised that they will be doing a second season. Nine seemed confident with season one. Audience numbers though…

I am surprised too. Hopefully they learn from Season 1 and make the game better by doing things such as reducing the game to 30 mins. etc… 1 hour was just too long!

What, that ratings disaster never deserves a second season

There is however another season coming of Jeopardy Australia, returning to Saturday nights.

It’s now appeared in online guides for next Monday, December 29.

I had reported that. There will be 8 episodes, screened over 3 weeks.

I’m surprised that it took them a whole year to get the episodes on screen

Also back when the UK version aired on January 2025, they added a 7th category. I’m sure it will applied here as well, but unlikely it will make impact on the pace

35 answers. Will they get through all the questions in enough time?

Majority of the time all 30 answers are revealed in the US, occassionally missing one or two.

Our version is an hour long, compared to the 30 minutes (of the US version). So all questions should fit in fine.
