Looks fine for a small market.
6 million people - bigger than Melbourne or Sydney
Reach: The region covers Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset, and Wiltshire, reaching approximately 768,000 homes (1.6 million individuals) for advertising purposes.
I’m sure HSV would love all 5-6 million Melbourne residents as their audience too.
Meh. It’s a lot nicer, and much more modern, than what they had before. But I do not like that desk. I guess it matches the shape of the set, though. This will almost certainly be rolled out to the rest of the regions over the next few years.
And I don’t like that teal at all. It looked crap when they tried it in 2006, which is why they changed it to blue after a year (then yellow after that
).
Other than that, no complaints.
EDIT: Here’s the first full bulletin, for anyone interested:
Comparing tv market sizes in terms to how many people this news product is broadcast to - 5-6m is the same size as Melbourne and Sydney and not a small market by any means. How many actually watch is another matter
Video is geo-blocked outside UK I think, here’s another link:
Don’t really like the watery lightboxes, and the newsdesk might’ve looked less like a coffin if it’s slightly less pointy - KBS News’ desk comes to mind as an example.
An insider on Pres Cafe teased that Granada (North West) is getting something new soon, so that’s something to look out for.
Looks better than most sets coming out now days
Given the titles and graphics match the previous set fine, seems odd to not to a full update.
But the square desk would have been better IMO.

Looks like it might be based at The H Club? https://t.co/BaLVgtME6X pic.twitter.com/UcAb3OywY1
Looking like an 80s nightclub with all that neon pink, purple and blue. ![]()
Well it does air fairly late in the evening
used to have a Sunday morning time slot similar to Insiders.
Don’t know what the traditional time for political discussion is over there, but I think it was the same as Australia being sunday mornings
Yeah it’s Sunday mornings here, same as Australia. I think Peston moved time slots because there were two other political shows on at the same time on a Sunday, so it was a crowded market.
You may have seen a slight change at the end of our programmes and in our bio...
