You may think that but its a worldwide issue of tv networks, locally here and overseas. $3billion in revenue doesn’t mean its all going back into the network areas you think it is.
I realise that this is probably WAY out of ITV’s budget, but I think it would have been nice if they’d done something like what RTL in Germany did. Like ITV, they moved away from green screens after several decades, and like ITV, moved their breakfast show in with the main news. It’s a great-looking space (IMO) that is multi-functional:
Ah, what could have been… but too expensive and probably too radical for ITV’s increasingly elderly viewers. ![]()
Too clinical.
Nothing a bit of warm lighting wouldn’t solve.
Good sets require good design and vision. Not massive budgets.
Ms Now’s relative small simple sets are a good example. They’re basically desks with giant screens. But brilliant design and vision
Yeah, but do they really need to share space? Give GMB the bigger studio and operate ITV News from a small green screen set? I don’t know the ins and outs of why this downsizing happened, but happy to be informed.
They only have one studio at ITN other than a tiny one person pres air in the newsroom.
There’s nothing wrong with sharing, the issue is the poor execution - like shoving in the old desk which looks incredibly odd against the angles and frame of the new set.
Oh right - for some reason I imagined they would have multiple studios!
They do, but they’re used by Channels 4 and 5. In the past, ITV had two full studios (one for the national news and one for London news) but now Channel 5 has the second studio.
