International Sports Rights

If you are the teams then u actually don’t want DAZN. cause once it falls through they can do find someone else, while getting the Main group payment or do what the NBA has planned with a combined streaming thing or pay service etc

The article also mentions

NBA teams would simply be better off allowing Main Street to shutter. Per SBJ, the 13 NBA teams “had safeguards written into their Main Street contracts that line them up to be primary payees from Main Street’s creditors should the business eventually collapse.” In other words, the 13 NBA teams will be made whole on their rights fees before any of Main Street’s other financial obligations in the event of a collapse.

Teams that relied a lot on RSNs for revenue have had their backsides kicked since Diamond/Main Street went into its death spiral, along with other RSNs being wound up. I think players and teams are going to have to pull their heads in financially, like pretty much most of humanity has had to in recent years.

Looks like DAZN is out & Fubo might be in with the FDSN saga

Some info about the FDSN saga

Six of the nine MLB teams with Main Street Sports are moving their media rights to the league. The Brewers, Marlins, Rays, Royals, Cardinals and Reds told MLB of their plans over the weekend.

The other three–Braves, Tigers, Angels–have not been decided.

Main Street Sports execs have told folks that they plan to produce NBA and NHL games through the regular season.

Braves released a statement and didn’t mention the MLB media so they might have other plans

All nine has quit since.

Long overdue move but it’s necessary so that Main Street can still sort out NHL and NBA payments.

They could declare for chapter 7 as early as next week.

Yeah all 9 have quit, 6 are going with MLB local media plan. 2 haven’t announced anything. And Braves announced something which didn’t mention the local media so they might have organised something else

The necessity of having too many streamers is why some turn to piracy.

Guess NFL wants to get some viewers there.

Stunning turnaround in France’s FIFA World Cup rights.

M6 only has 54 matches so the other 50 remains up for grabs. And Ligue 1+ was believed to secure the rights to all 104.

Until just a couple hours ago when L’Équipe announced that it was actually BeIN Sports with the win.

Looks like no one wants anything to do with whatever Trump and FIFA touches?
