JULIAN ASSANGE IS FREE

Julian Assange is free. He left Belmarsh maximum security prison on the morning of 24 June, after having spent 1901 days there. He was granted bail by the High Court in London and was released at Stansted airport during the afternoon, where he boarded a plane and departed the UK.

This is the result of a global campaign that spanned grass-roots organisers, press freedom campaigners, legislators and leaders from across the political spectrum, all the way to the United Nations. This created the space for a long period of negotiations with the US Department of Justice, leading to a deal that has not yet been formally finalised. We will provide more information as soon as possible.

After more than five years in a 2x3 metre cell, isolated 23 hours a day, he will soon reunite with his wife Stella Assange, and their children, who have only known their father from behind bars.

WikiLeaks published groundbreaking stories of government corruption and human rights abuses, holding the powerful accountable for their actions. As editor-in-chief, Julian paid severely for these principles, and for the people’s right to know.

As he returns to Australia, we thank all who stood by us, fought for us, and remained utterly committed in the fight for his freedom.

Julian’s freedom is our freedom.

Anyone know what kind of coverage of the UK election will be shown tomorrow or Friday I should say.

BBC world news would be your best bet. starts at 6:55am through to six pm. Given the timings i suspect strongly its the domestic BBC coverage with the exit poll releasing at 7

Given that they don’t have a separate world channel anymore, I’d say that will be the case.

Also for media coverage - 2024 United Kingdom General Election - Media Coverage

They are indeed running the domestic election coverage! There’s also Sky News UK, and CNN International. Both are running full shows through the night/day (yes, even CNN!).

Watching the BBC coverage and the exit polls are not good for the Tories.

Lab - 410

Con - 131

Lib Dems - 61

Reform - 13

SNP - 10

Well overdue. UK is in disarray at the moment, glad I don’t live there. Speaking to a few friends over there I wasn’t aware how bad things are.

Truss was just the icing on the cake. Sunak never had a chance. They will be in opposition until the 2030s at minimum.

So far Reform UK coming second in many seats, with Conservatives being placed third - should be noted though that there are only results from six seats.

Tory seat after Tory seat are falling to Labour and others. It’s actually quite satisfying seeing the egos at the Tories getting shattered in slow motion. It’ll take about 3 election cycles at least before the Tories will become remotely competitive again.

Not so good is the prospect of Farage and his delusional fantasy town of Reform UK doing somewhat decently as a minor party. We need less of the far right rabble, not more like what we’re seeing across Europe.

People only vote for parties like that purely out of spite for the other parties. I was watching an interview with some reform voters, most said they are only voting for them because they like NF and they are sick of the big parties. When it came to what the Reform party is, they had no idea.

Let’s see if Labour can fix the issues here. Huge road ahead. It’s going to take probably two terms to get the UK somewhat stable.

Disagree, the lefties have gone too far and need to be brought back towards the centre. Politics has always been a swinging pendulum, it swings to the other side when the other goes too far. It is the natural cycle in democracies.

Looking online its seeming that Reform is beating the Tories in a lot of seats, and other parties are getting more votes this time around.

Honestly were the Tories expecting to win? Both the left and right were tired of them. Most of the UK Right from what I am seeing is voting for Reform while a lot of the left is voting Labour.

16 Government Ministers have now lost their seats. Pretty much sums it up.

Just looking through the individual seats and it seems in most Labour areas Reform is beating the Tories, but Labour has more votes than Reform and therefore win the seats

Reform have around 750k more votes than Liberal Democrats but because a lot of them are in areas being beaten by Labour, they have 23 less seats than LD
