Instant Hotel

… on the commercial networks (and that is their loss). There are other means to be entertained and there are few shows on the commercial networks that are (in my opinion) entertaining.

I’m not a fan of reality shows but original programming os better than clip shows, specials, bad movies or repeats.

Yes but the problem is that those alternatives are niche and don’t appeal to a wider audience. I too, cherry pick a couple of shows from many different channels these days.

The commercial networks look for programs that get big ratings and therefore have to have wide appeal but may not necessarily be top quality.

Instant Hotel premieres ‘Melbourne Cup Day’ according to a promo I just saw, which is what I was predicting based on the TBAs in Seven’s upcoming schedule.

From the Top End to tropical North Queensland, from Bondi to the Barossa, from Melbourne to the mighty Murray River… We’re on the hunt for Australia’s absolute best ‘Instant Hotel’!

When you check into INSTANT HOTEL on Seven, get set to journey across Australia on a holiday like no other because there are no hotels and motels - only Aussies turning their homes into Instant Hotels. Tapping into the worldwide trend of homeowners renting out their homes as holiday accommodation, INSTANT HOTEL will see 10 teams of two competing for the title of Best Instant Hotel.

Teams will score each other on: the house, location, nearby attractions, value for money and the all-important quality of a good night’s sleep.

And as contestants soon find out, like most travel adventures, what might seem like a dream online is not always what you’ll find when you arrive.

How will our proud Instant Hotel owners take constructive feedback from their guests? Guiding the teams on their journey is host LUKE JACOBZ. “I’m really keen to see what lengths teams will go to in transforming their homes to give their competitors a taste of that hotel experience. It’s going to be great to be a fl -on-the-wall, when personal taste is not to everyone’s taste!”

Joining Luke on INSTANT HOTEL is the series judge, JULIET ASHWORTH who will score each hotel out of 10. An award-winning designer who has worked on over 100 projects across Australia and Asia, the former editor-in-chief of Vogue Magazine is now partner and creative director of an internationally noted design company, specialising in luxury hotels and resorts.

“I’ve stayed in several homestay properties around the world - some fantastic and some not so fantastic - so I think this is a great opportunity to show people who are wanting to rent out their own home, what works and what doesn’t!

“I’ll be judging the overall experience – was it ghastly or would I go back?” says Juliet.

No WA teams I see? I wonder how WA will take this…

I still don’t understand why they didn’t launch this show this week instead of next week.

They’re letting Family Food Fight have a free run for a week and then it continues Sunday to Wednesday. By the time Instant Hotel starts on Tuesday to Thursday it will already be on the back foot.

Clearly Seven have more faith in The Wall than Instant Hotel. Personally I think they are making the right choice since a game show like The Wall should take priority any day over a cheap & tacky looking reality show that Instant Hotel appears to be.

You don’t have to use words when the promo spells it out do you :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Ok i lasted about 8 minutes. Just give us Four In A Bed reruns instead of bastardising it into this shite.

Yeah, not really original at all & very MKR-esque.

I’ll admit it’s a bit better than The Wall and has gathered more positive social media repsonse.

I won’t be continuing to watch though, one cooking reality has always been enough for me.

Hurry up and start The Good Doctor

I’d say it’s about to give the WAxit campaign a good push.

NB/ that’s WA-exit (a play on Brexit), not “wax it”

Most want give a toss

It’s like a home rental version of MKR, but it’s much tamer than MKR. However, Luke Jacobz did say in a media interview he had to intervene during a heated argument between the teams.
I like the two-way scoring (the guests judging the hosts and the hosts judging the guests) though.

I don’t recall saying such a thing actually

I was not talking about you, it is the host Luke Jacobz.

You obviously missed the point where he added the winky face to show he was joking

It’s one of those shows I love to hate watch. I mean the mother and daughter team, what the hell?

Why does the daughter have an accent? and what accent is that? the feud between them and the old gays is pretty funny.

Enjoying this more than I thought I would. Assuming there is a second round and then they go back and address those issues in their instant hotels… It could drag out til MKR… But I am sucked in

I watched this show for the first time last night (as there was nothing else on) but I must admit that I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected too. Personally I find these hotel visits 10x more interesting than MKR home dinners. I feel this show has a lot of potential but it’s just wasted at the tail end of the year and a lot of viewers just won’t give it a chance because the promos make it seem too similar to MKR/House Rules, however for me it was superior to both of those shows.

The casting is pretty good too. There are some likeable teams and some great villains too. I will be back again tonight. I’m interested to see what direction the show goes once these visits are over? I assume it’s going to run at least 2-3 more weeks.
