No fatalities mentioned, thank God, a miracle, when you hear the details of what happened. I am mindful there are still a couple who are critical however.

9 Adelaide aired the 15 minute bulletin from 8pm.

Poor form from 9 and 7 not airing anything as yet.
19 people injured. Four in a critical condition.
Driver arrested by off-duty police officer who was attacked while apprehending the man.
Another man was arrested near-by filming and with a bag of knives.

You have to wonder if the media coverage of previous attacks contributes to copy cat attacks. Earlier in the week we had blanket coverage from the last attack in this area a year ago. They were gratuitously playing footage of the doughnuts he did at this intersection all over the media.
Whether it was terrorism or not, did that contribute to this nutbag acting in the same manner?

Deceptive coverage for Queensland from Seven advising multiple times of a live bulletin at 8.30 that then included LIVE transitions, and LIVE supers throughout yet was on 1 hour delay. Not sure why they thought that the 10 minutes shown contributed anything to the story for Queensland viewers. Would have been better to show something that was actually live later when there may have been something new to report.
Yeah, it came to my mind as well.
If this was happening in England, Europe or the US we’d have rolling coverage… Happens in our own backyard and the networks are nowhere to be seen.
The presser has been going for 30 minutes now and nothing from either network.

I got fed up with Seven and just went into the other room and watched the ABC Coverage.
Very good.
Still nothing from 7 & 9… This really is bad form.

You’re absolutely right. We’re obsessed with what happens overseas in so many ways and oblivious to what happens in Australia.
But then again, this is probably getting the right amount of coverage. What’s the point of rolling coverage when essentially nothing has happened in the last couple of hours anyway?

Really?
There was a very similar attack in New York in November, an actual proper terror incident with 8 deaths and dozens of injuries, the deadliest attack in the city since 9/11, and it received far, far less attention from the networks than this incident has.
The forum lights up with criticism when the networks go overboard launching into pointless rolling coverage filled with ums and uhs and repeated facts every 5 minutes. It’s just not necessary unless there is a developing situation and people need to be informed about what is going on right now.

FINALLY: An update is airing with Mike Amor… Started with the Sydney generic opener shot.
I was living in Germany at the time of the Berlin market attack and there was less coverage on German TV.
Less is more, people who want rolling can go to a news channel.
