I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!

No she isn’t. She won a few years back. Marnie Simpson from Geordie Shore is actually on it this year.

Oh woops got the names mixed up. You are right.

Easy to do when so many of them have popped up on the ‘celebrity’ reality shows. But it has been a huge success casting a Geordie Shore star in these reality shows with; Charlotte Crosby, Vicky Pattison and Scotty T all winning the shows and seasons they have been involved in.

As am I.

Shane Warne last year was a waste of money. Laurina was probably paid 5% of what Warne was and provided 5000 times more entertainment. She is exactly the type of ‘celebrity’ the show needs - someone who just doesn’t care how she is perceived and who creates a bit of chaos in camp. If you take her out of last season, the rest of the cast were very boring.

There’s another bitch on The Bachelor now who is a prime candidate for next year.

I think the show is too short which leaves a big gap between it and MasterChef (which usually starts on first week of May). For the past two years Ten relied on a mixture of programs to try to fill in the gap, and we all know the result.

You can’t just make a show longer to fill a gap in the schedule. Ten can always find another franchise to fill that 6 week gap or even find another franchise that can last a little bit longer and air Masterchef later. The Bachelor could be moved up for example and shows like All Star Family Feud etc aired around it.

I lose interest after 3 weeks. It is way too long. There is only so much you can watch of the same thing happening every day. I know we aren’t the UK but shows like Big Brother, I’m a Celebrity etc are so successful because they don’t drag out too long. Even the regular season of Big Brother only lasts for 55 days and has 7 housemates in the final. I think that is perfect as you don’t get any boring conversations in the last few weeks.

Yeah it’s generally the lesser name celebrities who end up being more entertaining or interesting anyway. It’s always the same on UK Celeb Big Brother as well… the ex actors/tv presenters etc are usually boring but recent reality stars add some drama. I’m all for ex reality stars (whether Aus/britisih/US) going on there and I don’t care if I know who they are or not.

I think 6 weeks is the right length of time. Not too long not too short. There’s no way Ten would commission the show if it was only going to be on air for a month. Too expensive an exercise for such a short timeframe. I agree though that the last season could have had a boost mid season with an intruder or two.

So attention seekers are better than actual celebrities. Just rename it to I’m An Attention Seeker…Get Me Out Of Here. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

The point of the show in the UK is exactly that. Essentially it’s to get people who are desperate for fame (absolute D class celebs) and put them in situations to make fun of them (e.g. with these tucker trials). I much rather more entertaining lesser known people than more well known names who have a reputation to uphold and therefore are boring on the show. Our cast is flooded with ex sport stars with zero personality or TV presenters who are just plain boring.

Producers will be thinking about potential celebrities for next years show. Who would people like to see being poached. I have a few that I think could be good (obviously objective) candidates:

  • Keira from the Bachelor (she would have to be on the top of the list)
  • Brent Harvey (not sure if he would be entertaining but at least he is relevant)
  • I would love to see someone from Geordie Shore (Charlotte Cosby or Garry Beadle) - Garry has talked about a desire to move to Australia and could take up the opportunity. Alternatively Ricky from earlier seasons lives in Australia now.

Anyone got any other suggestions?

Please no for Geordie Shore. Most in Australia would have no clue who they are.

Obviously you haven’t watched them on many UK celebrity shows… They bring the entertainment and drama. To be fair not many fans of I’m a Celebrity knew who Vikki Pattison was before she went on I’m a Celebrity. But she ended up winning. ITV and Geordie Shore have a completely different market/target audience. They are under rated ‘talent’ that know how to cause some drama. But hey each to their own, its only a suggestion.

Maybe Anastasia’s mum from gogglebox :stuck_out_tongue:

Ten could send Tim Bailey (with or without dog). That might keep some MS Eyewitness News watchers happy for a few weeks.

Mr J Hayne.

Some great suggestions there.

I would probably suggest a certain former Western Sydney deputy mayor and/or a certain controversial Sydney gambling identity…then the producers can leave them both in the jungle when the show is over! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

So what? Most people whinge that they don’t know who half the “celebs” are on celeb anyway. I’d rather they cast interesting/entertaining more lesser known people than washed up Aussie stars who are boring.

Geordie Shore cast members are a great idea. Producers should look at UK Celeb Big Bro and get someone entertaining off their like Bear who won the recent season.

Honestly though we will end up with the same old sorta cast. I think Keira has to be on it for sure to spice it up.

Bear would be casting gold. Although I hated him. He wouldn’t be too costly either. Celebrity Big Brother paid him 12,000 pounds. So roughly $20,000 for his time in the house. So they would only need to look at paying him $5,000 per week or something.

Oh yes I watched the season and couldn’t stand him either. I really wanted Mob Wives lady to win as it kind of felt fixed for him to win. He’s definitely entertaining though and the price to get him on something has prob increased since winning that. Aussie networks don’t seem to like to cast controversial celebs though like they do in the UK.
