Producer influence making its way into the ending just now with Deb choosing the next trial participants.
What was the producer interference?
She didn’t want to select Nathan but Chris clung to her mentioning his name and basically made her nominate him.
Debra Lawrance Farewelled From The South African Jungle.
Cue the tissues as everyone’s favourite TV mum, Debra Lawrance was farewelled tonight from the South African jungle. With the celeb numbers witling down, it’s going to be an emotional week in camp!
Campmates put Harry on the spot and asked him point blank if he’d made a decision about competing for gold in 2024 Paris XXXIII Olympic Summer Games. Immediately Harry confirms yes, he’s ready and keen to go for gold and yes, the celebs helped him come to that decision. With a spring in their step, everyone was absolutely chuffed they had a hand in helping out the young sportsman with his future.
In the trial Stinking Ship, Aesha got down and dirty trying to find stars for camp. Knowing she had to jump off the ship before it ‘exploded’, she pocketed seven stars and jumped as the clock bombed out with not a second to spare.
Showcasing her incredible acting talent, Debra ran an acting class NIDA would be jealous of, running the celebs through a voice exercise which, in reality, looked like some weird cult ritual.
Deb also found comfort in accepting her age and that the right acting roles would find her. She claimed she may not be the most beautiful actor, but her craft spoke for itself and she’s thankful for all she’s already done.
Going deep with Deb tonight made it all the more sad when Dr Chris Brown and Julia Morris entered camp to break the news she was to leave. After making an impact by openly discussing the grief of miscarriage with Liz and Aesha to revealing she took Hollywood actors Heath Ledger, Melissa George and Isla Fisher under her wing during their time on Home & Away, Deb would be missed by all.
On departure, Deb chose Woody, Nathan and Domenica to take part in the Beam Me Up trial tomorrow night, plus another celebrity will be farewelled from camp.
Looked more like Chris and Julia were trying to wrap the show quickly for time purposes. Debra was rambling a little so they tried to get things back on track. But it did look a little awkward.
There was another one when Chris & Julia asked for 2 names and the response was along the lines ok so you asked for a male and a female, but that specific detail must have been asked off camera.
Well to be fair she did say his name then tried to change her mind without giving any other names. We didn’t have all night to sit through her decision making process.
Domenica Calarco Farewelled From The South African Jungle.
It’s a week where the blows keep coming quicker than Harry Garside’s dancing feet in the ring with our jungle campmates tonight saying farewell to Domenica Calarco.
In a trial that will go down in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! history, Dom, Nathan and Woody were given the task of walking the plank over a dam without a safety net. In a full body ultimate hell hole experience, the celebs were blindfolded and left to trust their instincts to keep them safe and on target.
Catch was, they weren’t actually walking out over the dam but over some squishy gym mats about a metre off the ground. Psych! And because each campmate gave it a crack they were rewarded all eight stars for meals in camp.
Emotions hit camp like a tidal wave with letters from home arriving. Not only that, the celebs also discussed the highs and lows of getting recognised in public, with Adam revealing he gets abused all the time with people calling him the worst Brownlow medal winner of all time. We’re not crying, you are!
The tears continued as Dom was farewelled from camp. No stranger to drama, Dom wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and stand up for what she thought was right, from going to head-to-head with KAK over a kudu testicle to disagreeing with Dicko over harsh questions.
Dom put her fears to the test, putting it all on the line time and time again in terrifying trials, all to gain meals for camp and raising awareness for her charity The Leukaemia Foundation.
As a parting gift, Dom chose Harry, Liz and Pete to take part in the next food trial, Dive Bar tomorrow night, plus another celebrity will be farewelled from camp.
That was the biggest fake task I had ever seen. It would have been more exciting had the campmates walked on the plank extending out of the dam wall without the safety harness or net.
It would have been pretty obvious too, the amount of time it took to set it up after filming the initial task instructions bit.
You know that pretty much means certain death if they fell in any way right?
I was not too sure how to feel about this trial. It felt a bit disingenuous to the premise of the whole show. Are the other trials fake too but the viewers are played the fool? I didn’t find it to be funny in the same way as making the celebs eat intestines or giving them electric shocks either. It was more of a cruel prank. Dom looked really distraught when she fell off.
She is angling for an acting job after this though
You think this was her audition for Home and Away?
it was bordering on psychological abuse IMO.
Not a fan of electric shock trials, either. If it’s causing actual physical pain then that should be a no.
Surely the electric shock trials are actually a form of physical abuse? Unless if the contestants who signed up agreed to this (and the snake and other creepy crawly trials compared to this is nothing) then isn’t it illegal.
If I was a celebrity I’d be screaming those words pronto if I had to do an electric shock trial.
Not certain, but I think that they would be using a TENS like machine to deliver the electric “shock”. And it is just that a “shock” rather than painful. It is just an unexpected reaction of the skin and muscles to the passing of a very low voltage. Not really painful, but it can make the muscles twitch/tighten so it looks effective on TV because you can lose control of the muscle for that second.
It is so “safe” that you can by a TENS machine at the local pharmacy and get the same effect. When used in a controlled way it produces therapeutic numbness in the skin and muscles.
I thought it was genius. I was losing my mind when I realised it was all a trick. Clever.
The eight celebrities held their own Anzac Day dawn service yesterday, hours before Domenica was eliminated. They also made their own Anzac biscuits with the crew providing the recipe and ingredients.
Nice gesture from the producers.
