Three very game celebrities are set to land in the South African jungle when I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! premieres tonight at 7.30pm.
Fondly known as Sally Fletcher’s mum Pippa on Home & Away, Logie Award Winning Actress Debra Lawrance has also been spotted most recently treading the boards as Professor McGonagall in the Australia production of Harry Potter And The Cursed Child.
On why she signed up to eat bugs and get little sleep, Debra said: “The challenge and the charity aspect are both important. As is flying the flag for other women out there in their mid-sixties.”
Infamous for ‘that’ dress comment back when he was a judge on the OG incarnation of Australian Idol, Outspoken TV Host Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson is ready to show Australia the real him. And in more ways than one.
Ready to step out of his comfort zone he said: “I feel pretty relaxed about it actually. I’m sure I will have a rude awakening when I hit camp but right now, all good!”
And no stranger to controversy is Reality TV Star Domenica Calarco. Making waves on her season of Married At First Sight, Dom is full of opinions and isn’t afraid to share them.
On swapping her 12-step beauty regime for a camp shower, Dom said: “Having done MAFS already, I gathered how hard could living in the jungle with some strangers be… I’ve pretty much already done it! Feed me to the lions, part two!”

Dicko won season 2 of Celebrity Apprentice Australia in 2012, then became a judge on Australia’s Got Talent season 8 in 2015. Both shows aired on Nine at the time.
This is a good start to the cast! I actually like that they reveal 3-4 names and leave the rest to guess. This reveal has got me more hyped up for the season.
Can we stop getting Married at First Sight contestants appearing as “celebrities”? And let them just appear on tiktok and whatever other social media sites they’re on!
But glad that Dicko and Debra Lawrence will be appearing.
Think what you like about domenica but she is there for one reason: drama. People may dislike her mouth but that is precisely what got her into the jungle and she will no doubt be entertaining, probably more so than the majority of the other celebs!!! Watch this space
I think people forget the show is casting for a fairly wide audience demographic, they have people from all walks of life, backgrounds and age groups to appeal to the most amount of people possible.
With that, MAFS is one of the highest watched, if not the single most watched reality series in Australia. Casting ex contestants, while likely not people I’ll recognise immediately seems like a fairly good strategy and and entertaining one at that.
This rhetoric about people being celebrities or not, just cause you haven’t heard of them before or challenging the notion of what constitutes a celebrity nowadays in a changing media landscape is tiring every single year.
We basically know about half of the core cast now, probably too many IMO. 1-2 is fine as a tease, even if they’re bigger names like your KAK’s etc.
Part of the tune in factor for me has always been the reveal, it then hooks you in to watching the feature length premiere episode. If I feel like I know most of them already, I’m likely not going to have to watch now to find out.
