I should add, I wasn’t trying to be over dramatic or cause a stir (like I might’ve been guilty of in the past), but genuinely wanted to raise this concern for some time.
It’s not in isolation either, like just flagging or talking to a mod at the time, but I feel a completely overhaul or approach by not just policy, mods and the collective MS family should be considered to make everyone more ‘happy’ again
You saw that comment but the majority of board users wouldn’t have because it was removed when it came to the attention of site staff. Such comments that are clearly in breach of board rules will be removed but there isn’t always a mod around that can get to it immediately. We all have jobs and lives to attend to. When I check in here during the middle of the day there are often posts that have been waiting for review for quite a while.
I don’t expect all users to agree with each other’s comments and opinions but I’d like to think we can all be respectful when we disagree. Some users develop a reputation for making silly comments or putting forward poorly thought out arguments and wonder why they attract derision. I’ve posted a few dumb comments here in the past that have rightly attracted snark or negativity. When people have called me out for it I learn from it and move on. If I was continually attracting that sort of attention I’d be reflecting on my posting behaviour.
A few of our users are attention seekers and/or compulsive liars who think they can make shit up, post provocative comments or pretend to have more knowledge of things than they actually do and expect everyone just to go along with it and not to see through the charade. That sort of behaviour is always going to attract eye rolls and scorn.
Flagging content that you feel needs review ensures that we can deal with the most concerning content as quickly as possible - while we may not get to it as quickly as everyone would like, I can guarantee it will get reviewed ASAP. Staff cant be across every discussion that occurs - some of the threads grow at a decent pace which makes it easy for us to miss stuff, thats why we need your help.
This is concerning (and the first i’ve heard about it) - is it occurring on the board or via PM?
Lately the “unread counter” for threads isn’t updating.
For example, Today and Seven News Content and Appearance both say 20+ unread posts yet I have read up until the latest.
Removing the crying emoji was very disappointing. I know for some fact that Mitchell Nock predominantly uses the crying emoji when some members mostly talk about Channel Nine and their ratings, especially when Nine rates better than 7. I know for the fact, that even though MItchell doesn’t post anymore, he will still react to other people’s posts.
