Ideas, Issues, Suggestions

Opera on my phone strips out the ads and some of the data, and I generally have no problems with MS.

Yeah I don’t see ads and don’t usually have issues with MS, unless it’s down.

I notice that when I copy and paste an Instagram link on this forum, the post doesn’t show up. Does it happen to anyone else?

I did notice that a lot of the time, so I tried to get links from FB or Twitter instead.

Is there a place where i can get my username changed?
I want it changed to JoelMaddenWindowsInsider

Is anyone else getting a lot of downtime recently? The site not loading at all rather than the heavy load stuff?

I get a notification when the site goes down for more than about 75 seconds - I only got one today, but I did notice that it was slow to load.

I suspect that the gap between heavy load mode and no response isnt very large

Why do I have a like limit?

There is a limit on the number of likes you can give in a day (200) - we believe that is a reasonable number (and is a significant uplift on the default value)

Clearly it’s to keep ego’s in check :slightly_smiling_face:

I know the topic of ads came up here recently, but is there anyway for a user to turn specific types of ads off? I seem to almost exclusively be getting ads about getting rid of tonsil stones and excess earwax with rather graphic accompanying images which make browsing this site first thing in the morning rather unpleasant. I report most as inappropriate, and have tried resetting Safari completely, yet they remain. I do not suffer from these issues, I have never Googled these issues, I am not interested in their remedies, I’m just sick of looking at them. Is there anything else I can try?

try AdBlock or Adblock pro

This has nothing to do with Mediaspy, Google is serving these ads to you as it’s algorithm believes they’d be relevant to you.

You need to reset / clear your Google ad preferences.

Who looks at the ads ???
I can’t imagine anyone paying attention to them, they are obvious enough to skip straight past without giving them a nanosecond of time.
I have never payed any attention to any ad on any website. As stated above, I skip straight past them. (sorry advertisers, but your money is wasted on this user)

This site and others often rely on advertising to continue operating. Help pay the bills that you don’t see as a user. That is why they are accepted and continue to be part of the user experience.

Just to be clear, I wasn’t looking to get rid of the ads completely - I have no adblocker installed (I’m not sure it’s even possible on iPad anyway, the only device I usually browser MS on), and am more than happy to support the site in this tiny way, it was just these particularly gross ads that I couldn’t ignore.

This was the answer I was looking for, I reset the preferences last night and haven’t any of the ads in question yet today. You’re a life saver, thank you so much!

Has there been a minor software update?

I notice on some posts, the members name is now coloured in grey instead of black, and usernames on posts look to be in a smaller size.

Yes - not sure whether it was minor though, we were a few versions behind

This morning I tried to post something about ABC News responding to claims in Media Watch this week about Darwin reporter Kristy O’Brien who is also wife of NT Chief Minister Michael Gunner. But both my posts (a link to TV Tonight article and a press release from ABC News) were flagged and removed. Why?
If anything, I think the ABC’s press release should stay.

TV.Cynic posted that media release yesterday.
