It doesn’t appear to be a problem. Viewers in each of the 5 metros as proportion of total audience is consistent with all other top programs.
I can’t see anything to support that. Wins its timeslot in every market including regional Australia (which is very rare for 10). Number 3 show in Perth is its highest ranking; in the demos its best result is in Brisbane where it is number one.
Sneak peek of tonight.
Some shows do see big advantages from where they are produced. The block and The Project see bigger audiences in Victoria.
Hunted is 10th in Sydney compared to 5th in melbourne so might be some merit in it
yes I would think that the show would appeal to victorians a bit more than other states in some ways considering locals would know the area and interested in a show filmed near them… I’d like to see them move the series to different states each series would make it interesting.
Yeah same. I think the appeal of the show is the locations as well.
Sydney viewers cannot stand 10. One of their worst markets. I am basing that only on opinion rather than any quantitative reasoning.
Here They Come, Ready Or Not.
Captured: Jess And Erina-Lea, QLD.
It’s the biggest question of 2022. Team Fugitive or Team Hunter? Unfortunately, Jess and Erina-Lea’s life on the run is over after a heart stopping capture on television’s runaway success, Hunted.
Hot on the trail of Karen and Brittany, an ATM withdrawal attempt by the Fugitives led Team Alpha to canvass the nearby streets of Emerald. Assuming the Hunters were nearby, Karen and Brittany high tailed it out of Emerald with thanks to new associate, bed and breakfast owner Carmel.
Team Alpha interrogated Carmel on the Fugitives’ whereabouts, with Carmel explaining they left with another woman to Melbourne airport in a red 4WD. Convinced Carmel was lying, they requested phone records where historical GPS tracking showed she made a recent trip to Inverloch, where the Hunters believed the Fugitives were now located. Side note: Carmel deserves a Logie for Best New Talent after refusing to take a cash reward from the Chief himself.
Meanwhile, 300kms away in Beechworth, Jess and Erina-Lea continued to lay low at local artist Kay’s house. Jess was on high alert and upon spotting a drone she believed was the Hunters, she legged it into nearby bushland. Erina-Lea eventually followed on foot and brought Jess back to safety after being reassured by the owners that local kids often deploy drones. Little did they know, Team Charlie were on foot nearby canvassing the surrounds of the nearby campsite, convinced they were still in the vicinity.
Their relief was short-lived as Jess and Erina-Lea soon spotted the Ground Hunters and immediately escaped over the back fence. The Hunters had them in their sights and a dramatic chase was on through bushland. Ground Hunter Clancy captured Erina-Lea first, and after a fall into the creek, Jess was also captured.
Back in Melbourne, Derek and Courtney enlisted the help of an Indigenous fashion retailer to send an Instagram post to taunt the Hunters. HQ uncovered known associate, Sianna, and sent Team Delta to her home. A knock on the door from Team Delta sent Derek and Courtney fleeing through the backyard with new friend Tanilla. The Delta team searched the premises, eventually finding a sign from the Fugitives saying, “You’ll catch Covid before you catch us”. A few streets away, the Fugitives narrowly escaped in Tanilla’s car.
With two teams now captured, seven pairs remain on the run.
Continues Sunday, 24 July At 7.30pm.
Blatant? They have to set it somewhere. It’s rating well outside of Victoria too. I do think a good way to make this show different season to season would be to set each in a different state.
Good episode tonight. Best yet. Looks like it’s not on again until Sunday. Does anyone know how many episodes in the season? I’m guessing it goes for 3-4 weeks max?
There are 9 episodes (3 weeks of 3 episodes).
I suspect the episodes get a bit better each time as the quality of the contestants remaining increases.
Victoria was a sensible choice for the series as it is about the same size as the UK, the formats original home. Larger states might be pose problems logistically if the fugitives were allowed to travel anywhere. The US series the area they were allowed was restricted.
I suspect given it’s success already Victoria will be keen to keep hold of it.
Practically as good as it would be to switch to another state each series you’re then likely adding further restrictions to keep the series managable which unnecessarily complicates things.
They need to work on the continuity….driving down freeways supposedly in one location but if you live in Melbourne you know where they are….one minute in Altona, and then closer to Werribee going in the other direction on the freeway….same with the aerial shots…small thing but not adding to the credibility….
I remember in episode 1, the HQ was calling a team travelling on Hume Freeway to Beechworth, but the aerial shot had it on the Monash Freeway in Burnley in inner Melbourne. Interstate and overseas viewers won’t think anything about it, but local viewers won’t like it.
In episode 2, the team at HQ was told that Karen and Brittany had travelled on a train from Flinders Street station in Melbourne to Emerald in the Dandenong Ranges. Locals know that there is no direct train from Melbourne to Emerald, you have to travel to Belgrave then change to a bus or a Puffing Billy train to Emerald.
This one made me laugh:
One of the most chiche photos of Geelong but they somehow thought this would suffice for Mornington (60km to the east).
not to mention Angie getting on one train to Box Hill in one style of train, then the train pulls out but it is a different style of train and going to Cranbourne according to the sign on the train…Box Hill is not on the Cranbourne line…maybe it is not being edited in Victoria…or by a Victorian.
Twitter is filled with angry Victorians complaining about all the basic errors. Seems like they outsourced the editing to Bangladesh. Not a good look when they have promoted it so heavily to patriotic Victorians.
I can see this becoming a big hit, I think the initial gripes were more about the promos and expectations. I was expecting more of an SBS style factual-reality. but once you accept that its little more than a brainless gameshow on par with other commercial reality shows, its better.
If the show get renewed for a second season, everyone involved in the show (from the hunters to editors) need to have a good knowledge of the geography and the transport system of the area, and don’t rely solely on Google Maps.
BVOD for the first episode is now up to 90,000 after 2 days which would make it one of 10’s most streamed shows ever.
It’s great news and hopefully a sign that networks will take a risk at trying new and different concepts.
