One episode left, finale is next Sunday 8th Sept.
Are the ratings good enough for a 4th season? I think they will probably renew it but could still be a 50-50 decision
Knowing 10, theyâll give us a Celebrity version for another season
Season 3 premieres on TVNZ 1 in New Zealand on Thursday, September 19 at 7.30pm.
This seasons rating have been better than the last right?
Not really. By all accounts itâs rating worse this season compared to the last, be it on the measure of 5-city, National, Total TV etc.
Oh for real?
I could have sworn I saw something spruiking an increase.
Oh well.
I hope it gets renewed.
Remember that ratings reports are different now from last year, they now include regional numbers and BVOD numbers. It may look on par with last season but with more metrics factored in now (compared to previously being the 5 capital cities) it isnt doing better.
How have ratings gone through the season? I know a few people who stopped watching after the first or second week of episodes.
Iâve kept watching, sort of, I skip through most of the eps on 10Play (and probably get more ads than show!)
The Hunters intercepting encrypted Whatsapp calls really annoyed one of my friends who works in IT who said itâs not possible
Whatâs been the highest rating so far this season?
As far as Iâm aware, itâs the content of Whatsapp calls and messages that are encrypted, not the associated metadata. I believe Ben on the show actually mentioned that on the show. Iâm no expert, but Iâm fairly sure a real law enforcement team could request the same kind of data.
Andy Evades Capture To Win Hunted: The Million Dollar Heist.
Captured: Deb, Romanee and Chelsea.
In one of the tensest finales of Hunted to-date, just two teams remained in the race to make it to the extraction point of Gem Pier in Williamstown. With the clock ticking down, the Hunters were hungrier than ever for a âclean sweepâ, capturing every Fugitive left before time ran out.
With the Hunters already circling Chelsea and Romaneeâs last known location, it was Andy who became the sole Fugitive to make it onto the extraction boat, diving into the water to avoid capture and winning the $51,500 he had stashed in his backpack.
Andy said: âI was disappointed that I wasnât on the boat with Deb because we really hoped to be there together, but it was a huge relief that, as a team, we had done it. We put so much effort in and had such a great time.â
During their time on the run, Andy and Deb managed to stay off the Huntersâ radar until just three days before extraction, when CCTV footage of them getting into a vehicle was seen by Hunted HQ. Andy and Deb were meticulous in their planning, moving every 24 hours, routinely swapping vehicles, and relying on the kindness of strangers to make it more difficult to track their movements.
Deb said: âWe were mind blown that these people didnât know us, but they gave up their time, resources, money⌠it was such a surprise to us how much people were willing to put themselves out there. At the end, we really wanted to win for ourselves, but we also wanted to win for the people who had been part of the team and helped us get to the end.â
As time began to tick down, Andy and Debâs signature attention to detail saw them planning out their dash to extraction down to the second, but the Hunters had already spotted the extraction vehicle â a boat â on its approach to Gem Pier. With Ground Hunters on the way, it was a gut-wrenching race to the finish with just minutes to go.
Arriving at the pier, Andy and Deb were greeted by Hunters Kim and Howie, who successfully captured Deb in the final minutes of the run. But Andy was too quick, diving into the water and swimming against the ticking clock to make it on the boat.
With just seconds to go until the boat took off, Andy wrenched himself onto the vehicle, blowing a kiss to his wife as she watched her husband speed off to safety with their winning cash in-hand.
Andy said: âOnce you come home, you just go straight back into your normal life of work, kids and you sort of forget about it, so itâs been awesome re-living it. Deb put herself outside her normal comfort zone going on Hunted and I think it has really expanded her horizons as a person, putting herself in uncomfortable situations and I think sheâs grown heaps through the process.â
Deb said: âWe definitely learned a few life lessons and are so, so happy we did it. Absolutely one of the best experiences of our lives, 100 percent.â
Thatâs an embarrassing mistake in the title
In a promo last week, one of the ground hunters said âheâs gone into the waterâ. I knew then it was Andy. Andy and Deb had timed their dash to the pier perfectly but didnât realise Kim and Howie arrived there only 20 seconds earlier. Andyâs decision to jump into the water and swim to the boat showed he was desperate, and he made it to the speedboat with only seconds to spare. One of the ground hunters could have followed Andy into the water but no one did.
It was the most thrilling conclusion to a season of Hunted I have ever seen.
Romanee and Chelsea were very unlucky. They were betrayed by a stranger who helped arrange a getaway car, which eventually led to the Geelong house where the ladies were staying overnight before extraction.
This is where I thought that this extraction point was a little unfair. If there were two teams in the race there is no way that they would have all been able to make it to the boat with the Hunters there. The Hunters were completely blocking access to the boat on the pier and even Andy who took the only option of jumping in the water (which seemed quite dangerous) only managed to swim to the boat with seconds remaining.
In other seasons they were much more open areas with multiple access points but this was literally a small pier that Iâm also a little skeptical how easily the Hunters supposedly found too. They were magically only minutes away from the pier when it was spotted from the helicopter.
I will give it that though. I thought it was all over for them and then the way that he just jumped into the water - genius. I am confused why no Hunter attempted diving in the water to grab him but it was probably because they were hooked up to cameras, mics etc or for safety reasons.
They were really smart to hide under the house, I thought they were going to get away with it and have the ground Hunters think theyâd just missed them (which is what the house owner said, that theyâd already left). I assume the Hunters were told the girls were still at the house and to keep looking!
Desperate maybe, but it was the only option not to get caught due to the setup, the narrow pier had Hunters standing between him and the boat, no other way to get past them really. And tip for next season, Hunters canât get wet - they are wearing tech gear and micâed up probably.
Thatâs what I thought too. They have never looked under a house or even looked to see if that was possible. The home owner told them that they left earlier so I was expecting them to leave the house but maybe have 1 car for surveillance of the house to see if a car leaves immediately etc.
Maybe If the home owner said at the beginning when he met the hunters that they left in the morning then the hunters might of left the house after a quick look. But itâs still a stretch to be adamant that they were at the house because it took the home owner a while to be honest and say they left
Totally agree!! Was a cracking finish; just wish Andy had all the money, instead of splitting it with the wife.
Was this due to them getting the girls (and yes noted that the girls didnât inform them of the location) and working out the locations based on distance and time.
I think the Hunters got lucky in nailing that final location as it could have been on pier along stretch of coast.
Did they not split it? Seems like a small amount compared with the other teams. I can recall him saying the amount, $51,500.
