I’ve only had to type in two sets of login details - One for Hubbl (why they couldn’t tie it into Kayo/Binge/Flash to authenticate the box is a bit of a mystery) and one for SBS On Demand, the rest use short codes (and QR codes) entered into apps/websites
damn, thats a shame - was kinda interested in Hubbl as BSkyB’s software was always nice and polished imo, but not having Plex is a bit of a dealbreaker.
I think I’ll stick to transitioning to Google TV from Apple TV
Yeah but try recording your programs on it! Don’t understand why this “thing” is getting so much attention. IMO Fetch and Apple TV will do me just fine. Will probably die a quiet death like Telstra TV in a couple of years.
For me I use a Nvidia Shield which is Android TV based and does everything I need. They have priced this too high as a Google TV can do everything the Hubbl can and it is cheaper so I won’t be going out to buy one for my second TV that has the stock standard JVC Android TV installed but the interface is lagy. I’ll wait for the Google TV to go on special. But if they priced it at say $80 so cheaper than the Google TV at $88 then it would be more compelling. But given I use my Plex a lot it probably would not be suitable given the app is not available at least at launch.
There’s really only one thing that would entice me to buy one at this stage- if they could have a ‘live sport’ guide that collates all live and upcoming sport events across all of the streaming services on there (plus FTA) i.e. Kayo, Stan, Optus, Paramount etc. that would be very handy.
With the explosion in streaming services out there in recent years it’s become hard to keep track of what’s on each platform (and when).
Having live channels is a positive, I’m not surprised though that there’s no recording capability as that’s sadly become less and less relevant with a lot of people using catchup apps these days.
Honestly, I think Apple TV gives the best experience of all the options available at the moment (although it does come at a cost), perhaps a topic for a different thread but I’d be interested in hearing why you want to change.
I had a Fetch Mighty for a while, I don’t think I recorded a thing on it.
There is a big risk that this will happen especially I imagine if the sales of the glass are poor.
I think it is priced reasonably - a 4k Chromecast’s RRP is the same price (although they’re on sale a lot) and the next comparable devices are a bit of a jump up.
I received a 50% off code so I’ll give this a go. I’ve been looking for a TV guide option since giving Foxtel the flick for Kayo a while back. Fetch never been an option as Kayo a must for my needs.
For a 4K device I would agree with you but for $56 at Amazon ($59 RRP) you can get the HD Google TV which is considerably cheaper. I have no need for the 4K version as I don’t own a 4K display. I own a 50 inch Panasonic plasma TV from 2011 and a JVC TV which isn’t 4K. I am probably not the only one in a similar boat. I will replace the Panasonic TV when it dies but not before unfortunately Panasonic have left the TV market worldwide now as I am very happy with the TV and I would buy a Panasonic again. Ill probably resort to buying a Sony when it finally dies. Maybe they should release a HD version for $50?
