Nice haha now I get it.

The initial excitement has died down die for
Me . There is nothing on there that I can’t do use by using Kodi Media Centre on my home theatre. Again Apple TV does about everything that Hubble is offering.

Wow, this box is amazing! For $99 you too can resurrect the dead! Either that or Fox Cricket has a Ouija Board!

Haven’t seen Fox Sports 503 called Fox Sports 3 for a while.

Really liking it, especially considering the price.

Positives have been well documented.

Here are my issues:

Live TV needs a shortcut button. It takes way to long to get to the “TV Guide” where you can switch channels. Perhaps they could repurpose the top right button which clearly doesn’t have a purpose.

Again on Live TV. Pressing up moves you move down a channel. But if you want to see what’s on other channels without changing the channel you press “Select” first. Which is all fine.

But why on earth is it that if you press up you move DOWN a channel. But if you press select, then press up you move UP a channel???

Also a missed opportunity to work with Ten and integrate the Pluto channels into the TV Guide.

And hopefully the FTA channel feeds get more stable come the actual launch. Errors out maybe half the time.

It needs lots of work tbh. It’s basically the IQ3 and 4 all over again. when these first came out they were full off problems and had upgrades and changes as time went on. This will be the same.

So I have my Hubbl - setting it up now.

The whole experience buying it was a good reminder of why I avoid Harvey Norman - was told earlier in the week I couldn’t collect it until Sunday, turn up today to collect and the salesperson asked “what’s a hubbl”, then after that goes to fetch it - comes back and says you can’t collect it today (for reasons unknown to anyone outside of HN’s head office, their system has been programmed for it to go on sale tomorrow).

The manager gets involved and says it’s okay to pick up - another guy comes back and asks me where my car is cause the box is kinda big, I look at him puzzled, turns out he thinks I’m picking up a Hubbl glass. Someone corrects him and gives me a box the size of a dinner plate and i’m on my way home.

Plugged it in and it already needs a software update - good start all round

No DVR to record shows and unskippable ads are the reasons why I am staying away.

First Impressions:

  • The setup was a bit janky - it needed a software update then switched off once it had been downloaded which was weird. I also had connectivity issues with Hubbl’s servers which didn’t help.
  • It didn’t detect I had a 4k TV - had to dig into the menus to fix that. Hard to determine whether that is an OoB experience or something that I missed in the setup process.
  • Having to log into 5 FTA apps is such a shit experience - at least most of them don’t require you to input your login details via remote (looking at you SBS on demand). Appreciate that this isn’t necessarily a Hubbl issue, but this is an area where everyone can work towards a better outcome
  • Could do with a few more apps - Sky UK’s has a few radio apps and Spotify, a TV version of RadioApp and ABC Listen would be pretty killer on this
  • The remote is good - well laid out and a decent weight.
  • The UI is pretty good, it’s clear that someone (I guess Sky UK) have put a decent effort into it, and seems to be very much inspired by Android/Google TV. No shortcut to the TV Guide is a bit of a punish
  • There seems to be no way to stop watching something (like a stop button) - returning to the menu (at least for live content) keeps the content streaming in the background (or in a window)
  • The guide is good, but it’s not exactly clear what you have access to or not (I only have Kayo + Flash and the FTA via app atm)

Has real potential to be a decent device, especially if the apps are maintained. Makes Fetch look a bit clunky and dated IMO.

The really annoying thing about the way they have done this is that they won’t tell anyone how big the hdd is in this thing. So we dont even know how many apps they can put on it.

What does the remote look like? I know that at least with the Foxtel remote you could use a quasi T9 typing for passwords.

That isn’t even the colour of the Binge logo. That would annoy me lol

Damn. Is there a USB port to connect a TV (like on Google TVs) or something?
